  1. Re-gearing your current axles can get pricey. Might be worth it on your D44 depending on what you're going to, but it'll probably be cheaper and easier to find another D30 with the gearing you want. Gives you a good chance to get a non-CAD axle as well.
  2. 3.07 is just too high of gear. It keeps the motor spinning too slow, and it's harder for it to turn the wheels... therefore less power, and it hurts mileage. The bigger you make the tires, the harder they are to turn. That's why when you go bigger, you need to gear lower. As for rock crawling, the lower the better.
  3. Nope... from 87-mid 89 the 4.0 got a Peugeot BA 10/5 5 speed transmission. It's a piece of junk, better served as a boat anchor. If you do have an AX-15 now, some PO swapped it in. Here's how you can tell the difference : viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11699 The fact that you said the tranny is shot makes me think you have the BA 10/5. You have to try pretty hard to fry an AX-15.
  4. Oh, you didn't mention 4wd or not... unless that's what you mean by spline counts. But no, the T-case behind your BA 10/5 will not bolt up to an AX-15. BA 10/5 is 21 spline output, AX-15 is 23 spline. The transfer case outputs will be the same though, for the driveshaft.
  5. The trans itself will be the same, but you'll need a 4.0 bellhousing.
  6. AW-4 was never behind the 2.8 AX-15 was never behind the 2.5 in a Jeep. That was a Dakota thing.
  7. Friends don't let friends drive on 3.07s. 3.07 would be fine with like... 23 in tires.
  8. x2 And if I'm out during a weekday, I see 4.
  9. No different than getting it or any other axle, especially at a junk yard.
  10. HAHA, you think that's cold? I'll drag you up to WI one of these days. Two winters ago, it was so freaking cold for a few weeks, that when it got up to -15 one day, it felt like summer. Then again, I wear shorts all year long. I think I own two pairs of pants.
  11. I wish I could grab this myself, but I can't. http://madison.craigslist.org/pts/1514593683.html
  12. I'm calling the nice young men in their clean white coats to come and take you away, cause you're.... APE S#!^ INSANE
  13. So it boiled down to the wrong flywheel? Sounds like something I might've done..

  15. It was considered 2.0 basically when sites like MySpace and Facebook, and forums became big. It wasn't just that you visited websites, and that was it. People began networking and having social lives on the internet, by being part of interactive websites.

Because you went into "My room 1" On the the right hand side, click on "Default"
  17. The first TCP/IP protocol was written in 1977. The "internet" has been around since the late 80s. I believe the first chat room popped up in 92 or 93. Granted, we're in what they call "Internet 2.0" now.
  18. I've been thinking of doing something like that on the lower RAD hose, but not for a sensor. For a drain. I hate coolant baths, there's gotta be a better way to drain coolant.
  19. XJ roof racks. They fit a shortbed perfectly.
  20. I just removed mine when the plastic part cracked and sprung a leak. They did away with it in 96 or 97 anyway. I hate AC so I wouldn't know if it would adversely affect that or not... I don't imagine it would.
  21. Keep the external setup. You are right, the bellhousings will swap right over. However, you also need to change the bearing retainer, which is a direct swap as well. Internal slaves are crap and never should have been used, IMO.
  22. You didn't know because it didn't come with it. The 2.5 was offered with an AX-5 or AX-4. The only way to get an AX-15 behind a 2.5 is to use a 93+ 2.5 5 speed Dakota bellhousing. The later 2.5 Dakotas were offered with the AX-15... but not very many.

  24. I was searching for a 2wd AX-5 and came across a classified post, initially signed up just to be able to contact the seller. Then I found the awesomeness
