  1. Yeah... then instead, they made the ZJ..
  2. You'll reuse your old CPS. Unbolt it from the pukey, and bolt it onto the AX-15. ALL Renix Jeeps use an identical CPS... 4.0, 2.5, auto, manual, doesn't matter. CPS is the same. 91 is an oddball year... the sensor itself is the same as the 92+, but 91 has its own plug.
  3. Doors are overrated.
  4. Where'd it go? Scrapper? Yard? I hope you don't end up needing something off of it.
  5. Looks like it'd be perfect for axle swaps/lift installs.
  6. Crankshaft Position Sensor. It's up on the top of the bellhousing, on the driver's side. Two 11mm bolts hold it in. Be careful not to drop these into the bellhousing when you're reinstalling.. You'd have to pull the trans back if you can't fish them out of the starter hole.
  7. Should be a pretty straightforward swap. Some advice: 1. Replace those top two torx head bolts with hex head bolts. Grade 8 replacements are about $1 at most. Despite what some people on here have said... there's really no realistic reason to put those back in unless you have no choice. Or do what Pete does, and replace them with studs to help with lining up the trans. 2. Remove the CPS from the bellhousing before you remove the pukey, and reinstall it after you bolt up the AX-15. It might be a pain to do with the trans attached, but you won't risk breaking it. Unbolting and bolting that back on isn't too bad with the front shaft removed, which you obviously have to do anyway. 3. PB the hell out of the crossmember bolts. They love to break, and it's not fun to remove broken ones.
  8. I like the lift... homebuilt?
  9. I missed a word in the OP... I thought he meant the gauges themselves went dead, not the lights.
  10. Rarer than rarest: Thunderchief. There is, after all, only one of those.
  11. There was also a J10 Honcho in Twister... and they dropped it on its roof. :headpop:
  12. You can reuse your flywheel, shift linkages should be the same, you got the x-member and mount so you're good to go there... Driveshafts will be fine as the Pukey and AX-15 are the same length. I think the only thing on your list that you're missing is the pilot bushing.
  13. If though it's a fridge... it shouldn't freeze unless it's really cold in the garage for awhile. It's not a heater, but it is insulated.
  14. My money goes on a bad ground in the dash somewhere. Year/motor of your truck would probably help out quite a bit.
  15. Shouldn't. Drinkin's bad... m'kay. :D
  16. First off, Welcome! It's hard to say without knowing the year of your truck. There really isn't much in common between a Renix era (86-90) 2.5, and a 94 4.0. Why are you ditching the XJ? If it's because of rust or body damage, you might consider yanking the entire drivetrain, cooling system, and wiring to swap into the MJ. You'll have everything you need, except for a rear driveshaft. A front skid and T-case skid will be a direct swap onto the MJ. Looking forward to seeing some pics of the truck!
  17. he mentions electric brakes after the towing package, maybe he means it is equipped with electric brake controls for a trailer? Even so still not able to justify the price. I doubt you're going to be pulling anything big enough for trailer brakes with that 2.5. So :dunno:
  18. He obviously doesn't know anything about it... or cars. Power Brakes obviously means they're electric.
  19. ^^ Got sick and bailed on me today. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:
  20. Yes, Dana 30s came with 4.10 gearing. Any 2.5 with a 5 speed should have 4.10 gearing. Emphasis on should. Always double check. Dana 30s, IIRC, can take gears up to 4.88.
  21. The 2.5 I-4 and the 2.8 V6 also both received the AX-4.
  22. Transmission will be an Aisin-Warner AW-4. Axle gear ratio will be 3.55:1 Dana 30 front, most likely Dana 35 rear, although you may have a Dana 44 if you're lucky and it's got a high end tow package. Chryco 8.25 is also a possibility if it's been swapped in.
  23. I hate Valentine's day. I don't do the flowers, the gifts, cards, chocolate, etc. But we did go out to Outback. Then after we got home, the ex-husband called and said he was stealing his daughter back.
  24. Looks like an XJ roof to me. MJ roofs bubble up a bit more.
  25. Are any other gears problematic? From what I understand about the operation of an automatic (I still haven't gotten one apart yet), that band wouldn't be used for only first. That's about all I can offer though, the experts will have to chime in.
