  1. Yup, you should be able to adjust it out some to get your wheels back on track. :clapping:
  2. Factory track bars are not adjustable. Do you have any lift? Lift affects track, and anything over 2" of lift should get an adjustable track bar.
  3. I thought 99 was a transition year...I seem to remember you mentioning that in a post awhile back. When I bought new rotors for the 99, O'reillys had two different rotors for it. They looked like they were one-piece cast to me. :dunno: Personally, I was avoiding getting an 00 or 01 to avoid the coilpacks and LP D30, but that's me.
  4. You reeeeeaaallly need to start specifying which truck you're talking about in your tech questions. 88 and 92 are very, very different. He said 185 :hmm:
  5. It also makes the tranny shift slower in comfort mode so you don't get that "annoying" shift shock. My 88 XJ was getting 26 in power mode averaging 70-75 on the interstate before I switched out the motor. Then it went to 18.5, found out the old motor was fine, and I was :headpop:
  6. Flywheel will be fine. I believe your clutch stuff will also be fine, although since you're going to have everything apart anyway, you may want to buy a new kit. My brother just got a kit for his 98, came with disc, pressure plate, pilot bushing, and throwout bearing. You'll also need the 79 CJ w/304 pilot bushing, and have the ID drilled out to 3/4" for the AX-15. Go back a few pages in the tech section. Over the last two months, there have been a TON of AX-15 swap threads.
  7. That's what I was thinking.
  8. 13 hour drive... even with the time zone change, I don't think I could make it.
  9. Still not seein' an avatar. :redX:
  10. 87 isn't an AX-15. It's the craptastic Puegoet BA 10/5. You are right about the spline differences, BA 10/5 is 21 spline, AX-15 is 23.
  11. Just an FYI, that's nothing specific to the Eliminator. All the Renix XJs and MJs with the 3 spoke steering wheel had those. In 91 they started getting a similar cap, but with no screws. Both my MJs are 91, and both now have the much cooler Renix horn caps. I'd been contemplating seeing if those would come out, but now I don't think I'll try.
  12. Email it to me and I can do it for you if you want. Geonovast@lycos.com
  13. Good'n'tight always served me well.
  14. :hmm: So, if that really works that way, then certain members wouldn't have to worry about getting "time-outs" and go stand in the corner anymore, because most of us would not see what they type :dunno: I'm going to have to try that :brows: It works, I had a certain member on there for awhile.
  15. Oh, well, I took this with my phone. I don't own any digital camera beyond our JVC camcorder, which also takes crap pictures.
  16.
  17. I went to the stash at home, dug out the 92 ans 91 alternators I had... and they'd been rained on quite a bit and were seized. Luckily we were able to remove the part that had broken and use one of the seized alts to fix his.
  18. Check the coolant to see if it's gotten darker. Do an oil change to see if there's anything else in it. When we drained the oil out of my brother's motor that had seized, about 8 quarts of liquid came out. Then when we drained the coolant, we got almost a gallon.
  19. During installation of my brother's "new" motor, he accidentally twisted one of the small connection studs on the alternator off. I believe I have the alternator from his old 92, which he replaced shortly before the truck was hit and stripped out. Will a 92 4.0 Alternator work in a 98? Or do we need to buy a new one?
  20. I imagine most of it is hand delivered.
  21. :fool:
  22. You should already have 4.10s, which is the lowest gearing available from the factory in our axles. You could go lower, but with only 31s, you should be alright. AALs can weaken quick, if you buy an AAL kit, which will fight the natural curve of the leaves. What some members have done, including Pete M, our fearless leader, is get another set of MJ main leaves, cut the eyes off, and stick them in between your main and second leaves. These are the same natural curve, and shouldn't give you any problems. Shackles are a bad idea on an MJ. Our shackles are already fairly long, and a 2 inch lift shackle will be about 4.5" longer than the ones you have now. IIRC, the added leverage on the leaf will actually cause them to fail faster than an AAL.
  23. Sounds like it's reeealllly low on fluid, and cause things inside to go to hell. I would pull the trans out, and open it up before you go looking for your replacement. It's pretty hard to kill and AX-15. I'm assuming this isn't your only vehicle?
