I am a flatlander, so when I hear that something is stuck I am not picturing it at the bottom of a hill ;) . Looks like it would be quite the project to get it unstuck. Nice shot

Yeah, this guy took some damage http://www.wkrg.com/hurricane/article/c ... ing/17014/ :teehee: I think I would have let go after the faceplant in the sand. :brows: I think he would have too if he wasn't tied to the kite

Rich I finally got the pump in tonight and ran it. I think it's leaking though. No change in temp. 215 to 230. I'm going to wire my electric fan on a switch this week. If that doesn't lower the temp I'm gonna let it run outta coolant and oil and drive it till it blows and catches fire. :D I think you should try the thermostat trick after you fix the leaking water pump. Good luck

It was either the water pump, or the new radiator that fixed my overheating problem :brows: . I am at just over 210 {215?} all day long in stop & go traffic. With the electric fan on I am at 210 on the button . I am still using the old plastic bottle with the hose clamp on it {guess it was fine} until the new Mac's comes in. Chico, how is it going for you? I really believe that drilling those two small holes at 6 & 12 on the thermostat did the trick. I did not have to burp the system  ! I filled up the radiator from the top and through the thermostat housing with the top hose. Ran it until it got hot - filled the bottle after it cooled off. Ran it again {did not get as hot} - then I topped of the bottle. That was it; overheating problem gone 8) . I think the cowl hood helps keep the temp down also - Rich

Back pain is debilitating - end of story. The fear of another spasm is overwhelming {and I just pulled a muscle in my back, no real damage :ack: } . Hope you have a speedy recovery. We are pulling for you  - Rich

You da-man Chico . Thanks for bringining up the waterpump, it forced me to do it ;) - Rich

Chico, I just picked up a new waterpump. I can't believe that you are still running warm. I have not started to take things apart. When you say "since you have the header off" you don't mean front clip - do you? I was hoping that there was only that steel peice on top to take off? I guess I will find out soon enough. I can't get mine to run 20 minutes without boiling over, so that 3-6 hour Prestone flush is out for me. Good luck and keep us posted - Rich

No, I did not. I should probably do that, huh?- Rich

Chico, I am not doubting you at all . I am just trying to figure out how this thing is going to work in my Jeep? - Rich -
Refilling the closed system.
Drahcir495 replied to chicofuentes0224's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That is strange? I talked to the guy at Mac's and I got the impression that it would only make it to the second tank if the the radiator cap popped? And to suck fluid out of the second tank??? I will have to give him another call - maybe I just heard what I wanted to? - Rich -
I have one complete passenger MJ bucket. And just the top cover off the drivers seat. I don't know how much shipping would be on one complete seat though? Just a thought and an option for you - Rich

Not good man. I have the same set-up coming this week. PIKE could be {and probably is} right - air in the system  . Don't lose hope - Rich

Refilling the closed system.
Drahcir495 replied to chicofuentes0224's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Chico, Not encouraging news for me  . I have the same radiator showing up tomorrow and Mac's bottle some time next week. I talked with the guy at Mac's about the extra fitting on the neck. I was under the impression that it is still a closed system. The neck that the rad cap screws onto they out-source, and this part just comes with the extra fitting. When/if the jeep overheats the rad cap pops{and I guess exposes the outlet?} and the excess fluid drains out. I asked him if I should plug it and he said no. Just run a small line to the "ground" and be done with it. I hope you can figure it out. Good luck - Rich -
Let us know if you head up that way again. I have been looking to check that place out. There are a few of us within driving distance of Dunnellon. - Rich

Ordered the Mac's fill tank today. I don't think it will be here in time to install with the new radiator? I will let you all know how it works out  - Rich

I just checked out both of your pictures. Dayem, those are nice looking! I am going to go back and read through them because I can't figure out the need for the overflow bottle? I am going to call them in the morning and order one. I went with the closed CSF radiator because the guy at ??? told me that the open were on back order. He also said that CSF was going to discontinue production on those and pursue making the plastic end radiators ( they cost 40% less to make). He did have the closed unit in stock - imagine that. I ended up getting it at Radiator Barn, we will see how that works out. Much respect to you and PIKE for the clean install - Rich

:D That is a great idea. I will start doing that now - Rich
