Installed the tow mirrors today. All went well. I was a nervous about drilling holes that wouldnt line up. So after several measurements and double checks in drilled a small pilot and much to my excitement it was on the money. Didnt take any pics in process but here they are installed.

They will be coming back off to get painted black when the weather breaks.

I also cleaned the door latches and regreased them while I was in the doors. Wow what a difference that made. The power locks work everytime the first time. No more hitting the unlock 6 times to unlock the passenger door. 1 and done.

DId you end up using the brackets that are found with the tow mirrors, or just bolted them right to the door?

Not much new to report on the MJ lately. Unfortunately I lost my 3rd gear synchros in the ax15. Upon removal of the trans I discovered a cracked bellhousing.  I found a used bell housing on eBay for way too much money. Lol  I have a new clutch kit and flywheel on the way. Still saving funds and trying to decide on a new or rebuilt trans.  Today I have decided to remove the handful of small things I want off of my parts truck and prepare it for departure from my possession.  Then the rest of the day will be spent cleaning and preparing my truck for the arrival of new parts and it's glorious return to the road.

She looks so sad and dusty.

Well a small amount of progress was made yesterday.  Broke my only t27 bit so parts truck progress is on hold until new tools arrive.  Old clutch is out. Still have some cleaning to do then time for a new luk flywheel and clutch kit. Should have those in today. Getting close to making a decision on new or rebuilt trans.....

Well she's been a steady ride back and forth to work for the last few days. Time for a new headlight switch and a power steering system revamp. Got some slop in the gearbox I never noticed until I started driving the new Lol.  The current plan is to keep her in service till the weather changes.

Broke a parking brake cable today. It appears the end that fits in the pedal mechanism decided it was time to retire. But no worries I already have the replacement.  Now I just need the time and energy to get it changed. Good thing I have Friday off. Lol

Same thing happened to me recently and it only took me about 2 hours to do. I just pulled out the lower trim panels and back wall panel (mine don't have a lot of screws in them) and pulled back the carpet. Didn't even have to remove the seat.

I have been thinking through it in my head and was wondering if it was doable with the seat in place. Good to know. I might tackle this one this evening.

Ok I'm in need of some diagnostic help. The truck won't stay in closed loop. I am getting a code for open egr solenoid. Everything else seems normal. Here are some quick picks of what the rem shows is going on.  These were taken after a 45min drive to work. Well up to normal operating temp.  I have to work today but will digging into this tonight. Ugh, I love this truck. :roflmao:

Well today was oil change day so it got a dose of fresh 10w30 rotella and a brand new wix filter. I was running 15w40 but can't stop the valve cover leak. Curious if it is a flooding issue with the heavy weight oil not draining. I'll have a report after a few days of driving. Also changed the sway bar bushings for some Amazon cheapos. Gotta be better than the old factory ones, and they match the paint sort of.

For the open or closed loop issue, I'd carefully exercise the egr solenoid by hand, I tend to remember it's rather accessible with like a screwdriver.  What does your REM say about air fuel ratio?  Is it bunching between lean and rich frequently like it should or does it lag?  Mine lagged badly and needed an O2 sensor.

I started on a quest to straighten my rear bumper. Found the nuts for the end caps were seized (what a shock). Broke the driver's side and haven't attempted to remove the passenger side yet. However the driver side of the bumper is now straightish. Took a lot of prying, pounding and looking. Lol. Gonna tackle the passenger side today and see if I can at least save one bumper cap.
