The increase in RPMs makes up for the decrease in RPMs when AC Clutch/Cooling Fan engages. RPMs should stay the same.

the IAC is a stepper motor, so you do have one.   the 'steps' move the pintle in and out exposing or closing the idle air bypass.
the IAC is in play at idle, adjusting air bypass to control the idle speed.

the 2.5 has a electro-mechanical stepper acting on the throttle lever itself.. as it was a 2.5, i did not include.. 
all i posted was from the 1989 service manual.

Yeah I got the stepper motor (well 2 at the moment since I just put in a new one), but not the stepper motor exerciser :smile:.

 

Just for fun I put in the number on the box from OHM's pic into an ebay search, the tester has turned into a fuel injuctor pump!! :laugh:

I used the REM to look at RPM with and without AC.  There was about a 80 RPM increase or so with the AC on.  So not a big change but in my case, some.
