Keep the XJ?

Help me decide if I should keep the XJ? I no longer have someone beating me up to sell it. If I keep it I’ll have 3 jeeps and the explorer. I have everything I wanted for the MJ but I would still need a paint job. Selling the Cherokee would (hopefully) give me the cash I need to finish both the Scrambler and the MJ. I don’t know. The XJ also was breaking down and I dreaded have my wife finding out about it and then telling me to get rid of it. I can’t decide on what to do?? As soon as I get it home, I can drive it as my DD and figure out its reliability.

I used to have the mentality that I had to keep all of my vehicles. The reality is that you can only drive one at a time, and the more you have the less that they all get driven. Worst thing you can do to a vehicle is let it sit. More vehicles equals more sitting.

 

My vote would be to sell it, finish your projects, and enjoy driving them.

My vote is to keep it. You’d be hard pressed to find another if you decided you want another down the road.

I have the same predicament as you. But I rotate between my daily’s. And I rotate based on gas and the last time it was driven. Right now it’s the XJ. When it gets low on gas, I’ll go to the eagle, when it gets low I’ll go back to the MJ. It’s not bad to have some back ups in the event one needs to go down for maintenance or for a lengthy mod where you want to take your time on.

I'm with Eagle. I think it's not inherently a bad thing to have 3-4 vehicles to cycle around, especially if they're all projects lol. Having two cars has saved my @$$ on many occasions. Seller's remorse is real, especially in the Jeep world. I hear it all too often. If you can feasibly juggle all of your vehicles and not have it be too stressful, then I say go for it and keep it. I guess it also depends on what needs to be done to the XJ to fix it and maintain it.

If you could sell the xj to get two other vehicles on the road, I think that sounds a lot better than sitting on three half-finished jeeps indefinitely, and driving an explorer. You might regret selling an xj a little bit, but there's always another one.
