Snow!?! That’s just a dusting!

I hope everything is okay down there though. No frozen pipes or major accidents. Do they have a whole bunch of stuff shut down?

😆 yeah living in Wisconsin for almost a year, I got to experience what real snow was about. Our water is not coming out of any faucets. No showers or drinking water until the pipes thaw. I hope no burst pipes had burst. All exposed pipes have insulation on them though.

I forgot you were up there for a while. Hopefully it thaws soon and the pipes are fine. I’m pretty sure pipes have to be buried 36” in WI to keep them below the frost line and the southern states don’t have that code.

I had that issue with my place in WV. A bit colder around Thanksgiving than usual. So, I had to thaw out the water heater, toilets etc. before putting in antifreeze. There was my first Thanksgiving there. Or just before it. Ate out and food poisoning. I was staying at a Motel, as I hadn't fixed up the place. Looked outside, and the Hunter's vehicles were gone. Sort of odd, I thought. Turned on the Tube and 11 inches were headed my way. I had to wait a few hours till I recovered a bit. Made it out of the Mountains around 11 pm or so. 68 was a bit dicey though.

This Thanksgiving there was snow and it was dark. Not fun in the mountains. Struggle to do 25 mph.

It is remarkable how just a little bit of snow can devastate areas that aren't equipped to handle Any of it.

Hopefully things get to a more manageable state sooner rather than later for you guys affected by the sudden cold.

I love the snow, especially when it sticks around. The last 2 winters have been rather disappointing here in MI. Seems our "new" winter season actually begins around January vs November as I remember my childhood winter seasons.

Same with WI. I’d say it has to be within the last decade or so. We’d usually get snow in early December, and now we barely had any snow this Christmas and it was all brown the year before that. But it seems to stick around longer too.

That really is something, it sounds like areas down there got what we call lake effect snow, but off of the ocean!

Snow is just another day for us in Erie, PA, currently winning the yearly snow globe race for the most snow for cities over 100k people.

The winter beaters manage fine.

The MJ did make a rare snow appearance last Saturday though, I made sure wash all of the salt off and tuck it back in the barn for the rest of  the winter.

:applause: Experienced Lake effect snow in upstate NY. Florida guy couldn't figure out what the stuff coming horizontally into the windshield was :dunce:
