Warren99
I saw a thread about this roughly but they were talking about modifying a universal receiver hitch. I wanna buy a receiver hitch for my 89 MJ. It has a 4.5”ish lift so I’m not gonna be towing anything crazy, I just would like to tow light stuff occasionally, and actually have something to attach to when I’m stuck or helping someone whose stuck. With all that being said, I see people talking about how they’re hard to find and not made anymore etc, but I found a few online pretty easy. What I’m asking ig is if these don’t fit right, but just say they do. Here’s one for example https://www.towuniverse.com/curt-2-front-receiver-hitch-select-jeep-cherokee-comanche-wagoneer-trailer-hitch/?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADI7fPUPG7EOPaGX4fxqMQmNGYaVv&gclid=Cj0KCQiAx9q6BhCDARIsACwUxu7NuELquqGxxZeUt90qvI02EUykz5Icn8sOdMGeFwzdtBnV9RVHsAEaAomrEALw_wcB

gogmorgo
X2 on Krusty’s hitches. https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063723510791&__n=K It’s a near perfect reproduction of the 5000lb Drawtite hitch from back in the day, and anywhere it’s not identical it’s better. I got one of his first batch what, nine years ago now I think? and no complaints at all. I’ve got pretty close to 5000lbs behind mine, which I don’t think I’d want to do again but the hitch wouldn’t be what I’m worried about there, more that most Comanches aren’t rated for much more than 3500lbs. The two things to watch out for though are that it is designed to complement and bolt to a factory bumper so if you have something else it might not fit the way you’d expect. The other thing is it’s not a rated tow product which may cause raised eyebrows in the unlikely event anyone official ever looks at it, although anyone expecting stickers to stay on a hitch on a 35 year old truck is out to lunch anyhow. Homemade or shop-built custom hitches aren’t illegal or even uncommon, you’re just on your own liability-wise if something fails. And if you’re towing something heavy enough to damage the thing on the road you’ll have much bigger problems than the lack of a sticker on your hitch. pizzaman09
I suspect krustys is what you are looking for, but I did want to throw out there a not quite as good option. I tow with a ball mounted on my Westin Fey bumper. I did have to weld chain hooks to it, but otherwise it works wonderfully. I'll admit I've towed around 5k with it, the bumper has 3000lbs max capacity stamped into it. I love how sturdy it is, no rattle from the hitch loosely fitting into the receiver. Elwiscon
I got one of Krustyballer16’s custom made hitches, very well made product, fits like a glove with no issues, haven’t towed with it yet though, highly recommended. Note: it gets delivered on a pallet with no paint/finish, I sprayed 3 light coats of Raptorliner
