Car Enthusiast
Finally got the 88 on the ground after dealing with a local powder coater who was a mess. Going to get an alignment and see if they can do anything to get the rear lowered another two inches, and then get some shocks for it.

pizzaman09
Lowering the rear should be easy. Two inch lowering blocks and longer u bolts. That looks awesome, what tires are you running, they look sticky.
Car Enthusiast
I was trying to stay away from blocks but I will probably end up using a set I had to lift my Cherokee. The tires are Mickey Thompson ET streets. I won't be using them but I couldn't resist having a drag radials on a lowered truck
Car Enthusiast
Repainted the center caps finally. I can't color match to save my life. Had to get the wife to use her expertise with colors to find a match. She did pretty good.

WranglerMangler
Great looking truck. Rear XJ shackles lower the rear about an inch or so. May be an option other than blocks. I found when I lowered mine, (ZJ springs in front) I was basically riding on the bump stops in the front. I’ll be curious as to what you come up with to lower it. Keep the posts coming! Car Enthusiast
Got some shocks on it, went down to get an alignment and low and behold it looks like I am replacing everything up front. So once rockauto drops off ball joints I will try it again.
89 MJ
I could be wrong, but isn't the small rod for the load sensing valve supposed to be vertical? Also, it looks like the bracket for one of the front brake lines is missing the bolt. Those are some fancy looking shocks!
Car Enthusiast
Yeah I didn't flip the rod yet. And the brake lines are both missing bolts. They were gone when I got the truck, figured the previous owner threw them away. I have a lot of "sorting" I have to do before daily driving it again. You don't want to see the wiring that I have to deal with.

As much as it sucks, it’s very rewarding in the end. I’ve spent countless hours repairing P/O’s rats nests. A rear sway bar makes a worlds of difference for the corner carving too. I harvested mine off a WJ D35. Some cutting and welding required*

neohic
Some good rear sway bar info here using a Blazer rear bar and axle brackets along with WJ links and chassis brackets:

WranglerMangler
I definitely suggest doing it! Using any method. My truck handles like it’s on rails. I scare my friends and wife with the cornering ability and keep up with cars that should be able to out handle me in the corners.
