camjeep3
Let me start off by saying I do not want to get anyone's hopes up. This is just an idea right now. Thinking through my build and dreading having to remove the rear slider got me thinking. My dad has a background in rubber compounding and molding. I asked him if he thought we could reproduce these. He seems to think its possible by using one to make a mold. Would there be a market for these? Does anyone see any issues that we may not be? Pete M
Has he seen one out of a truck? The inner bits are pretty complicated.
camjeep3
He has not. Frankly i haven't either. Do we have any pics I could show him?
camjeep3
The "idea" is to mold from an original
The86manche
I can get photos. I wouldn't necessarily say it's complicated
eaglescout526
If you need one to mold from, I have my original and possibly a spare laying around I can send along. I’m sure there is a market for them, but there’s a bigger market for doing the body moldings.
Classy Comanche
I know I would totally pay good money for a peice like that. I'm wanting to like restore the truck in full but leave the paint, the faded look is growing on me. I know there's like 18,000~ MJ's roaming the earth and there's odd and end parts becoming obscure and so hard to find. Like a manual hand crank regulator. I called 12 junkyards all the way from NC all the way to Washington and I found 1. And I bought it. I needed it. That used hand crank regulator was $75 for the part. $23 for shipping. It'd be so awsome if those went into production. But yes I do believe bringing the rear window gasket back into production would be a thing all MJ's drivers would love and appreciate. I would want to put it around a piece of glass before sending it to make sure that didn’t shrink at all.

If you hadn't used it before, next time try Car-part.com. It's a database of junkyards around the country.
jpnjake
I’d definitely be happy if someone had those reproduced, what I’m very interested in is if he could reproduce the xj/mj vent window surround seal, maybe with some improvements so they wouldn’t leak I’D buy 2 sets of those
eaglescout526
Or the rear door vent window on the XJ.
