The86manche
Went down to a local electronics parts store and picked up a few capacitors for a buck a piece, 4 in total for 1 module and decided I'd try my hand at fixing a wiper module. They usually fail and I was curious to see what they look like without their case on. It looks like this. I had actually already done the repairs when I took these photos. The old resistors were green and white. When I had opened it I checked resistance to each one and found one to be open. And also one of the circumstances was broken. Hence the red wiring to repair the circut. Went out to my truck today, plugged it in and checked all intermittent settings.. IT WORKS! we got a working module again! I have several more I intend to repair and confirm function again and afterwards will be up for sale. I'd be happy to repair any if anyone has a pile they want fixed or to get rid of. gogmorgo
Nice. I’ve found a few cuircuit boards that failed due to cracked solder joints, and the fix is as simple as poking the crack with a soldering iron to reflow. It’s nice saving an original component and sometimes a few hundred dollars.

I'm more of a fix it before replacing it kind of guy. If I can fix it I'll give it a shot. I have kind of wanted to have a new modern circut board made and program wiper module commands to it but that's somewhat foreign territory. I would be interested in a working one if these. I just added CC and now have an intermittent wiper stalk with no intermittent wiper. Would be interested in buying a working one. I’ve mostly done it on clusters, yeah, and typically only on ‘90’s era stuff. Something about larger components hung off a vertical board, don’t seem to like bouncing around. Could likely make a modern wiper module happen easily enough with arduino or raspberry pi, or whatever is being used today. It’s what we used back in the day for our cluster and shift control on our FSAE cars, although that was ten years ago. But it’s not exactly a cost effective production solution. eaglescout526
Makes me wish I was good with electronics to do my own work on this stuff like the early style tachs and cruise control modules.
The86manche
Wow this generated quite a bit of interest! Well let me go over the other ones that I have and see what I can do. I've got the other two taken apart and they seem slightly different than the one i fixed previously. Maybe an 86 and earlier model. And these are 87 and up? regardless. Only one capacitor has changed and i only need to check values on them to see what and if anything has failed.

cruiser54
I have 3 good ones and 3 bad ones. $35 each shipped in US for good ones. The86manche: Just pay shipping on the 3 bad ones.
JYau
I'm also interested as I have been looking for a good one. Pretty much every time I ask about one, the owner doesn't know if it works or not. I tried repairing mine as well but it was so badly corroded the mechanical relay was seized and I wasn't able to fix it.

I did also find another one in my stash for testing as well. Just for a short update.
