After installing my new carpet, I'm now wondering about some good floor mats. Looking at Rugged Ridge fitted mats for the XJ, but they don't specifically say they'll work in the MJ. Do any of you have experience with this, and if they'll fit. Thanks. Here's a pic or two of my fresh interior.IMG_20220908_170006897_HDR.jpg.bfc0eaff879fd184e50ff3f79f1c8300.jpgIMG_20220908_165936138_MP.jpg.f96fb92db88494cc27c98805d7dcf348.jpg

Otherwise, the ACC reproduction carpeted floor mats seem to fit well and keep the dirt off of the carpet quite nicely. You probably don't want them if you have muddy feet often, though.

Sweet interior, here’s what the ones in my MJ look like. They are the rugged ridge and they fit pretty good and have little spikes on the bottom that hold them in place but don’t damage the carpet

The best liners I’ve come across for the MJ are the husky XJ versions. They lay flat and are quality. Reminds me a lot of oem Jeep slush mats. Iirc there is a tab that will be trimmed off for a perfect fit.

I just got these from a guy on Facebook.
Was told they were originally for XJ’s, but they are thick and fit well

Those are great mats. The husky’s are a copy of those.

I ordered the Rugged Ridge mats. They fit fine, except at the rear outside corner, where the MJ has a floor brace that the XJ doesn't have. I'll live it, maybe get some may retainers that will hold the corner down. Here's pics of the area in issue.IMG_20220916_095705560_HDR.jpg.71b21d0776311a83cc34995378174dd6.jpgIMG_20220916_095730517_HDR.jpg.bde255bfc36d4f524db31efb336e1a9d.jpg

Yes, the seat needs to come out to install the carpet. If you have the new carpet, it will need to be trimmed on all edges to fit, as well as cutting the holes for the seat mounts, the seat belts and shifter. It's not horrible to do, but it does take patience.

patience i can have, its a project so no time limit, just a sharp knife and some good tunes haha
I'm just worried about taking the seat out and finding i need more things haha
do you have any sites or lists on how to get interior parts, I'm missing a fair amount

Other than the classifieds here, a junkyard or pull a part places, or marketplace for parted xj's. 86 is an odd year for Comanches, mostly considering the wiring. They started changing some of the connectors in 87 and later. Same year XJ's work too for dash parts, but all other interior trim is different than Comanches.
