XJ 1 96 Sport Auto Bought with 87,000 miles on it at a junk yard with an engine that had a loose wrist pin and was clattering pretty bad didn’t make the 22 mile ride home before letting loose. Had a wrecked 96 base with the same mileage l pulled the drivetrain out of and drove it to 325k before it was to rotten to keep on the road.

XJ2 96 Sport stick with approx 100k on it bought from coworker in 07 put approx 100k on it in 5 years. Sold it still in good running condition although a bit rusty.

XJ3 98 Sport Stick with 209k bought from original owner in 07 with very loose steering. He replaced everything and it still wandered on the highway. Bought it cheap, no rust but looked a bit like a golf ball from a hail storm.

The loose steering was from the track bar being bolted to the front of its box on the axle instead of in it. Found it when l pulled up to my other 96 XJ and compared the two. Scrapped it last year with 453k on the original motor. Very rotten.

XJ 4 95 country bought for $300 drove for a few years probably put 80k on it. Junked

XJ 5 96 base bought cheap, probably drove that one close to 60k. Junked

XJ 6 99 Sport bought for $450 with 160k needed basic maintenance.

Drove it to 300k and gave it to daughters boyfriend who promptly wrecked it a week later.

XJ 7 98 base bought in 2016 for $400, little rust drove it 30k and gave it to daughters boyfriend. Wrecked last week. Totaled

Had 2-3 more that l probably put a total of 25k on

MJ 1 92 base 4.0 Stick had 100k on it, bought it for $400. Put a D44 in back after blowing spider gears in D35. Drove it about 6 years putting 100k on it. Very rusty at 200k Sold it, don’t know what happened to it.
So between me and my family we have over a million miles on XJ/MJ’s

and another 200k on 4.0 ZJ’s

and another 200k on 4.0 wranglers over 22 years.

That’s a lot of gas. Approx 93,000+ gallons at 15 mpg

I’ve had five. Yeah, pretty weak compared to some of you.
1. 89 Sportruck ~15,000 and climbing (still have and daily driven)

2. 97 XJ -0 (parts truck)

3. 96 XJ ~.1 (engine donor for 89)

4. 88 Pioneer ~.1 (made it run and drive, then sold)

5. 90 Eliminator ~1 (jumped until it broke, pulled off salvageable parts, then someone else bought it)

For a grand total of ~15,001.2

I'm not really sure how many have been racked on here. My wife and I were trying to figure it out. We have both averaged around 30,000 miles a year at least since I've known her. That's 24 years now. I'd say 18 years of that has been Xj/MJ only years average miles though spread out across over 30 heaps in which half probably were just shear part outs. I know 70% of those miles were nearly all Renix 4.0 xj miles for the both of us. My mjs were pretty much daily work trucks abused to death. We had 1 2000 xj we had put around 150,000 on it with an additional 120,000 more on the mill when we bought it. I still have the motor. Runs better than I got it. That one was parted from rust and my shear exhaustion of patching stress cracks with reinforcement. Eventually control arm mounts and leaf perches were going to be too much effort. I always had another here to drive.  Poor mileage has been the culprit of parking or parting many here. These gas prices have me contemplating parting with most or all I have left. Cash for clunkers had me at this point years back for awhile. I ended up with another dozen heaps just a few years later then:dunno:

Well...

0. I rode in the back of a 1990 XJ from 40k to 240k miles when I was a kid. I probably put the last 5-10k on it myself.

1. 1994 XJ bought at 140 sold at 180

2. 1989 MJ Bought at 125 sold at 170

3. 1990 MJ. Maybe 5k miles

4. 1996 XJ About 2k miles

5. 1989 MJ About 5k miles

6. 2000 XJ Towed about 20 miles no engine =P

7. 1991 MJ about 10k miles

8. 1991 MJ towed a grand total of 1200 miles so far.

Grand total driven: ~110k miles

Grand total riding in the back seat: Probably another 110k

Total miles towing dead Jeeps: ~1250 miles.
