Disappointed apparently the 87 4.0 Renix isn’t covered in either of these reproduction publications. Either that or I am blind.
CGCWO Posted January 6, 2021 Author Posted January 6, 2021 Floor pans done (sealed, all exposed metal shot with rust converter and sealer) then all spayed with rattle can bedliner. Pics for @MiNi Beast Finished product pics are not great due to having the truck covered with tarp in prep for rain that’s coming tonight and tomorrow ugh....
MiNi Beast Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 nice. never too much sealer eh? thanks for pics. i need to do my pans very soon.

Nope after being a USCG Boatswain Mate for a little over half my 26+ years in the CG I learned you can’t go wrong with making things watertight! I am afraid your own your own. After pulling the seats from the 86 XLS I think I am going to have to do at least the drivers side near the front seat mount since the bolt pulled completely out when I took out the seat. I’ll get some pics of the seats tomorrow after they have dried out from the washing cleaning.
CGCWO Posted January 8, 2021 Author Posted January 8, 2021 Today’s progress. Started stripping some of the goodies from the 86 for the 87. Ordered wheels/tires for the 87. American racing AR23 and Khumo Road Venture MT51s 32x11.50x15. I also promised a pic of the bucket seats. They are still pretty wet but they cleaned up really well. Only one small tear I. The vinyl at the top of the wing. Almost un-noticeable. All the interior floor prep is done in the 87. Mocked up the full center console and mounted the brackets. Also discovered the console has the channel and vent adapter for heat/ac to the rear of the cab. Took a little time to give the Roadmaster some attention and put on the new ultimate seat.
MiNi Beast Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 oh yeah. i love that seat. i need a back for my seat as well. dig them rims as well. shall make quite the difference with new shoes.
CGCWO Posted January 8, 2021 Author Posted January 8, 2021 Worked on the 87 a little this morning. Put in a little padding for the floor and cab back, restored the taillights and UPS showed up with the new shoes. Thais are motivation to get busy and get this thing on the road.

Pete M Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 well, poot. so I dug out my old 277 and it's got July 1985 on the very first page. does yours have a date there?
eaglescout526 Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 My edition of the 277 is august(might be July)of 85 but it has I.S. Notes in the very back that cover the 4.0L.
CGCWO Posted January 8, 2021 Author Posted January 8, 2021 My statement was made on a quick look through the table of contents. I’ll dig into it further.
CGCWO Posted January 10, 2021 Author Posted January 10, 2021 Did a little cleaning on the under carriage today. Knocked off probably close to 30 years of dirt and old paint. Also confirmed that the lift on it is a Trailmaster 4.5” ish see all that orange...lol. Also put the new shoes on. 32x11.50x15s with American Racing AR23’s.

Bungee cords are to hold doors open and hold tarp on until I find and fix all the leaks.

jdog Posted January 11, 2021 Posted January 11, 2021 seems strange seeing a factory spare in the factory location

CGCWO Posted January 11, 2021 Author Posted January 11, 2021 Nope, no jack or any of the assorted pieces to go with. No worries as I will need a taller jack anyway. Probably go with a high lift and mount it under the bed rail or against the front of the bed. Would still like to find a spare tire key/rod.
CGCWO Posted January 11, 2021 Author Posted January 11, 2021 Getting a bit over whelmed, lots of parts and pieces to prep, dye, paint, recover and install for the interior. Then there’s the stuff under the hood. Have to remind myself slow and steady!
coheed Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 I'm jealous of your seats. I have the same in much worse condition. I love the 86 only honey interior bits. Excited to see this truck. It'll be a good one.
