Any Musicians?

Are there any musicians on here? If so, what instrument do you you play? Are you currently in a band? If so, do you have a FB page/YouTube channel?

I am in a band. Our band is called Sunbutt and the Moonshiners (we do have a FB page). We play some classic rock and some country. I play violin and mandolin.

if it was made of brass and had 3 (or 4 valves), there was a time I played it.  Euphonium was my favorite.  less puckering than the trumpet and less air volume needed than the tuba.  mega kudos to anyone that can master the french horn.  it may not seem all that different than the others, but I assure you that one is... trickier.

I have never played any brass instruments, I don't think that I could. I was born with more restrictive airways than most babies.

well i have blown and beat on many things over the years but never in any good rhythm so can't say I'm a musician by any means but rather i know how to make noise to the made up lyrics i bellow out at random times.

Well, at least you are creative and can come up with lyrics quickly.

Drums have been my instrument of choice for the last 17 years, I started when I was 11 as a way to blow off some steam but now I enjoy the challenge of trying different time signatures, and fills rather just hitting them as hard as possible lol. I also know my way around guitar and bass but never put to much effort into those.

No band for me at the moment, still shaking off the rust from when I couldnt play for a few years.

yeah i try to tell the girl that but she just calls me weird. :teehee:

i always like the idea of playing the drums and have beat on them a few times but i gotz no rhythm and growing up poor i only was able to beat on the 5 gallon buckets after watering the horses. but I'm not as good as that guy i see beating a sweet tune on his buckets in the city. :shaking:

 I’m in the same boat when it comes to bass and guitar, enough to amuse myself but for anyone listening it just sounds like noise.

And @MiNi Beast pots, pans, and buckets is where it started for me. Never to late to buy or build your own kit. :L:

that would take away from jeep parts. :sad2: i have learned long ago I'm more the comedy type vs musical type. i enjoy others with their musical talents.

But, you playing music could be considered comedy for some....

I am a drummer/percussionist in the Orlando area. Drumming is my main instrument but I suck equally on all percussion instruments and all styles on drumset. It was nice to finally have a gig again just 2 days ago. Fortunately I have a teaching studio so that has kept me going and has always been the biggest chunk of income for me. The main reason my mj has always had a topper is to haul equipment. I still use it when I need to haul a bunch of stuff for a musical or more than 2 timpani. I did cruise ships back in the early 90's, country bands in the late 90's and have been freelancing since then. Before Covid our jazz trio was hosting a jazz jam every Wed evening for 2 years, hoping that gets going soon.

Pete, your post about the French horn is spot on. My wife played horn through school and that is how we met, in the college orchestra. She doesn't play but once or twice a year anymore but I can still hear her great tone, hope she gets back into it someday. Check out any recording of any piece with Dennis Brain on horn, there are stories of him having every horn concerto memorized but still asked for a music stand in the studio, it was for his car magazines! He was quite the car afficionado, unfortunately he liked his alcohol also, was asked once how he could perform so well while drunk, his response was that he practiced that way, so sad, he died at 36 in a car crash.

I'm the electric bass player and backing vocalist for Hush Harbor (hushharborband.com).  We're a faith-based rock band in the Kentuckiana area.

We'd gotten some radio play over the past couple of years and our stuff is on spotify and iTunes.  We've been active for 5-years.

The coolest thing is performing with and getting to meet and hang out with the big guys you hear on Christian radio, some of my musical heros:  Rhett Walker, Sidewalk Prophets, JJ Weeks, Carrollton, etc.

That's me, the bald dude with the crazy shirt and the cheesy smile.

You got a cool thing going on, Carter.  You guys have merch?

I'll keep an eye on you and your band.  Tell your parents that i admire them--they'll know what I mean.  Keep rockin'.

Cool to see we've gotta few musically talented people here.  I am certainly not one of them.

I've got a crappy cheapo First Act electric and an Epiphone Les Paul hanging on the wall.  Have picked them up here and there but never enough time to really devote to it.  I can play a few riffs and some mean Smoke on the Water tho.

I admire anyone who can write their own music.  Tried that years back when I was really learning and got nowhere real fast.

Played trumpet in grade school and JR high. Realized I sucked pretty bad. Do instruments were out. My brother was the musician in the family. I did have a DJ business for about 30 years plus owned most of the pa for my brothers bands.

That's still pretty cool!

Same here, my Brother is the talented musical virtuoso of the family.  He can pick up a dog turd and figure out a way to make music with it.  He's a pianist, guitarist, drummer and most recently a Bagpiper of all things.  Just one day decided that bagpipes sounded cool so he went out and bought him a chanter.  3-years now and he has a couple of sets of stunning bagpipes, a full uniform and can play all the major pipe hits.

We were in various rock bands growing up.  After military retirement, I once again picked up music and began to perform with my limited skills.  For reasons only known to him, he's perfectly content with staying at home and goofing around with a home recording suite.  He has zero desire to get out and gig or studio record and it is a shame.  He should be famous with that gift the Lord gave him.
