Drahcir495 Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 Just a little frustrated. Short story; new fan shroud hit my fan and bent the ends of the blades -> I hope you can tell from the pictures. Can I bend them back without throwing it out of balance or is it best to just get a new one? Just looking for a piece of mind, so I don’t constantly worry about it 👍🏻
Pete M Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 If it's piece of mind you're looking for, I doubt a re-bent fan will give it to ya.
eaglescout526 Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 You could always get a new one in place or rebend the blades back and throw it on and see how out of place it spins.
DirtyComanche Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 Get a new/used one. They're typically in the $10-20 range from the wrecker...
Dzimm Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 I had a fan with 2 blades bent like that and didn't know it so no idea how long it was that way. When I found it I bent them back and didn't notice any difference in the sound or anything coming from the fan. I suppose it could cause added wear on the water pump over time if not perfectly balanced. Like stated above, get a replacement if you are worried about it. They can be had cheap.
Limeyjeeper Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 However well you bend the blades back it will be out of balance and put a lot of stress on the pump bearing. For $20 just grab a used one from the junkyard.
JustEmptyEveryPocket Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 I have some in my parts pile. For shipping I could send one to you. PM me if you want.

You the man! I may be pm’ing you. It’s just the outer tips that are bent if that matters? What about putting it in the lathe to spin it to look for any wobble? Would that work?
omega_rugal Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 unless you can bend it back right how it was it´s easier to get another...
