Eagle Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 After it has sat for some time ... when you first turn on the key, do you hear the fuel pump running for a few seconds, then stop?

Ever cleaned your c101 connector?
Eagle Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 The problem with testing the resistance of the CPS is that the test is supposed to be condicted with the engine (and CPS) at operating temperature. It's impossible to do that if the engine won't start. The AC voltage test is a more reliable test of output.

Byrdock Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 I had the same problem a few weeks ago. I had replaced the CPS a few hundred miles ago, so I didn't even check that, but had a MAP sensor from another truck and swapped it in and she fired right up. Also, I put the wire harness where the sensor ground is back in the plastic sleeve. So one or the other might be a fix for you. I haven't had time to swap the MAP sensor back to see if that was the problem or the sensor ground that was redone by previous owners.
88whitemanche Posted October 5, 2018 Author Posted October 5, 2018 Just an update... its the fuel pump... swapped in a new airtex one about 2 years and I guess it died.... used starter spray and it cranked right up then died, tried again with starter spray and started up and died again... going to order a Delphi brand one tomorrow
88whitemanche Posted October 6, 2018 Author Posted October 6, 2018 I see rockauto has the carter pump set that mentions having an actual or Bosch pump...should I get that one instead?
HOrnbrod Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Get the Bosch. You'll get a lot more than two years out of it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Bosch-Electric-Fuel-Pump-Kit-69301-Jeep-Cherokee-Comanche-Wrangler-1986-1990/152981215748?epid=1738715865&hash=item239e641a04:g:BQAAAOSwQRlaz8FJ:sc:USPSPriority!35016!US!-1

Minuit Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Quick question: do those Bosch pump kits come with the o-ring for where the sender goes into the tank? I need to fix my gas gauge and while I'm at it I think the Airtex pump in there now needs to take a hike. Would be nice to have everything I need in one purchase.
gogmorgo Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 I want to say it did... But I had my Bosch put in a year ago so my memory may be foggy. The Delphi pump I initially got did have it for sure, but I can't recommend the Delphi at all. It didn't even come close to fitting. The adapters were total junk. I managed to jury rig it in there with some hose clamps, but it was barely over a week of use before I suddenly couldn't get gas out of the bottom third of the tank.

Yes it does but no strainer for some reason...

If you do, have the part #?
HOrnbrod Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 I didn't get that pump - have the 4.0. But the last Bosch pump I got came with the strainer.

Ah ok, had reused the strainer from the previous pump... this pump is definitely bigger than the previous one.... but truck fired right up after I primed it and it’s been running good the last 15mins no issues

JMO413 Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 The parts catalog shows a port on the throttle body. It's number 16 in the picture.
