shelbyluvv
I had to cut a lot of the floor out to get the body as low as I wanted it. Being all wheel drive I can't get too extreme with the axle angles up front. It was a better plan to cut the body to fit.

Then I go on a business trip to California for 3 weeks. I want to at least get the cab firmly mounted and the floor built. Where in California? 29 Palms? shelbyluvv
Love the look of this truck. Anything new We got a factory seat for it last month. I'm on the hunt for a rust free X/MJ floor to graft into the truck. Our floors have all the right bumps and flats to work perfectly for the chassis swap and body drop. Drahcir495
Well that’s cool about Jeep floors working. I watched the video of it running - sounds really good. Keep posting
Manche757
The man that owns one of the most collectible trucks of all times is expected to post pictures of the progress. Bo, did you not get the memo explaining just that? Pit vipers don't bite in the winter in Alabama. Much is expected from those so capable.

Bo, did you not get the memo explaining just that? Pit vipers don't bite in the winter in Alabama. Much is expected from those so capable. I actually went and cut the trans tunnel out of a XJ. I have been out of town and working on getting my yard equipment running. My TJU has been keeping me busy with the trans cooler failing and filling my tranny with coolant. Tomorrow I will flush it again along with changing the filter for a second time. Hopefully this keeps her happy. The F1 will be back in the line up soon. shelbyluvv
It's been a long time since I made time to work on the 48. Today I started getting the floor installed. I pulled the cab to get it sat on the floor to make sure it was level. I then trimmed and trimmed some more to get the XJ floor mocked in. I then put the seat in to make sure it would clear the bottom of the seat. I need to take another 1/2" off the trans tunnel to get it away from the seat. The floor is going to work out pretty good. 89 MJ
Why are you sticking woth a stock bench? Why not a more modern bench that will be more supportive?
shelbyluvv
Why are you sticking woth a stock bench? Why not a more modern bench that will be more supportive? It's my wife's truck and that is what she wants. If it was mine it would be done by now. It took a year to find that bench.

shelbyluvv
I am getting back to the 48 finally. When we left off the cab was off. I got the cab sat on the frame again. Once the cab was back on the frame I chopped up the Explorer radiator support. Then fitted the front end on I then set off to install the brake pedal, booster, gas pedal and throttle cable. It rained for a few days so I started the process of building my firewall harness. When the weather broke I mocked up the running board location. I also got my rear tire size figured out and fit checked. With the truck being all wheel I have to keep the tires the same diameter. I decided to keep it old school and have fat rear and skinny fronts. I also have to keep them fairly tall to keep the trans happy and make it a highway cruiser. 28" tires fit the bill nicely. The rears will be 275/60R15 on 15x8 and the fronts will be 235/70R15 on 15x7. I have most of the parts to install the steering and should be able to get them installed in the next few weeks. shelbyluvv
Thanks for the update. Will you be using the Explorer steering column? No, I bought a billet tilt GM style. The steering wheel, column, joints and shaft cost more than the Explorer! Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
