I got a 88 with column shift and idiot lights. I got a full gauge to swap in. I’m actually gonna swap the transmission one day soon to a manual.  Is the PRNDL indicator necessary? Can I swap the full gauges in without cutting the slot?

Guess my question wasn’t clear.  Was it necessary to have the indicator while using the automatic.

no, but you gonna have to guess which position you are on...

Obviously. I’m no stranger to doing that.

and I see no need for external indicator when I’m gonna swap columns when I do the manual swap lol

There is/was an 86 in a local JY that had a column shift auto with PRNDL on the column.  It had a 2 spoke steering wheel but also had cruise.  I don't remember if it was tilt.
