fiatslug87 Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 That blue interior reminds me of the first MJ I drove back in '88 or '89, was looking to buy a used one and test drove it.
Pete M Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I split/moved your last post over to tech so more eyes will see it.
strictlyxjs Posted March 4, 2020 Author Posted March 4, 2020 Got the turbines mounted on my bfgs. I need to get this slave hooked back up and thr trans put back up so i can get it turned around. My garage is a mess from all the wet sanding and wood burning from the winter. Really need a nice day to get the truck out and re organize the garage. I put the flares back on (temporarily) as well as the b pillar vent to get an idea.
strictlyxjs Posted April 2, 2020 Author Posted April 2, 2020 Pulled this bad boy out from the crawlspace where it has been living the last few years. Time to get him cleaned up will be perfect for this truck. Put power to it and works as it should. I have everything aside from the plastic gap pieces.
strictlyxjs Posted April 19, 2020 Author Posted April 19, 2020 I picked up some doo-dads for later. Right now I'm waiting for my paint to arrive i ordered it this week. Tcp global single stage gloss white.
strictlyxjs Posted April 21, 2020 Author Posted April 21, 2020 My paint came in today. I couldnt resist and stripped down the header panel and painted it. It was my first time paintkng with actual 2 part automotive paint and a spray gun. It came out okay.
strictlyxjs Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 Well today i did a thing. There are some runs I'm not happy with. I'm working on repairing them.
strictlyxjs Posted May 8, 2020 Author Posted May 8, 2020 Refinished my center caps (thanks cruiser). I started to work on preparing for the orange 4x4 decals using my 86 sales brochure as a guide. I decided to paint the lower "blackout" section, rather than doing the vinyl decals, as i don't feel i have the skill to tackle that. I decided on satin black since it seems to have a dull look. I sanded the lowe quarter back down with 400 grit after figuring out my lines. I tried to get as close to the factory lines as possible. What do you guys think?
eaglescout526 Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 Looks really good. I am willing to bet that was more of a two tone option than a vinyl kit.
strictlyxjs Posted May 8, 2020 Author Posted May 8, 2020 You may be correct. Pheonix graphics offered it as an add on to the kit but the ones ive seen in person (orignal) seemed to be chipped off like paint. Not sure though.
eaglescout526 Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 Well vinyl can chip like paint too, just gotta give it 30+ years and more than eight hours in the sun. I know my original Pioneer decals were chipped in spots. But hey it looks good so I can't wait to see the final product!
strictlyxjs Posted May 11, 2020 Author Posted May 11, 2020 Still plugging along with the lower body blackout. I'm happy with how it is turing out. the paint has just the right amount of dullness to mach what the factory decal/paint looked like. Took a ride with my friend after work last night out to CT to pick up a bumper for $50 and it even came with the tow hook brackets and OEM chrome hooks.... It was nice to get out for a bit after being stuck in all this time. I Know people have their favorite brand of lubricant and penetrating oils but my friend was cleaning out his garage and gave me a can of this old school Honda Pro multipurpose lube and rust penetrating oil. Man this stuff works fantastic! has anyone else used it before? It appears to have been discontinued when i look up the honda part number.
strictlyxjs Posted May 22, 2020 Author Posted May 22, 2020 New bumper installed with tow hooks. I'm starting to get really excited!
strictlyxjs Posted August 16, 2020 Author Posted August 16, 2020 Hey guys. Ive been away for a bit. My appologies. My wife gave birth to our first son so i have been busy enjoying my time with him and only working on the comanche when he naps. I do have some updates as i ended up doing my graphics from pheonix graphics and got matching blue seats (still need to shampoo them there is a rust stain on the pass seat) from my boss as well. My boss also hooked me up with a NOS downpipe as I'm now working on exhaust.
89 MJ Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 3 hours ago, strictlyxjs said: My appologies. My wife gave birth to our first son First, Congratulations! Second, there is no need to apologize for that.
strictlyxjs Posted September 13, 2020 Author Posted September 13, 2020 Thanks guys! been driving truck around my neighborhood. Working out a few little bugs... Not gonna bother getting it road legal with winter on the way. Now that i have it looking decent i can concentrate on putting in an ax5 and 231 combo as i really need overdrive the ax4 sucks. Ill also br installing the ramsey hidden winch.
