Minuit
Just curious, as I've never heard of this part before... I was browsing TeamCherokee (I know, but some things you just can't get from anyone else) and came across this: http://teamcherokee.com/a-pillar-foam-bumper-seals-oem-cherokee-1994-1996/ Anyone know what this does or where it goes? The listing says it can be applied to earlier model XJs and MJs, but does it actually do anything?

mjeff87
It looks like they would fit inside the door jamb below the A pillar and above the upper door hinge. They would block the space that leads inside the fender. I think. Jeff

cruiser54
wind noise I'm interested in that. Don, order some and let us know how they work.
HOrnbrod
I don't have any wind noise. :P And I don't think that's what they are for anyhow, but I can't prove it. They weren't available until 1994, so for Jeep to manufacture them there must have been complaints about the earlier models. And they did leak around the A-pillars. You probably have wind noise from the driver's seat cushion. I know you do. And you should know what's the purpose of these seals. Were there complaints about early XJ's leaking or wind noise around the A-pillar? Or did you retire from your dealership before they started making XJs? Pete M
there are some similar looking pads in my dakota and my best guess (at least in that truck) is that they prevent the wind from rushing up the a-pillar gap along the door seal (which might carry rain up with it too). just a guess. HOrnbrod
If you don't have leaks, or excess wind noise, WTF difference will you be looking for?
cruiser54
How will he know if he had excessive wind noise unless he tries them.
Minuit
@stroker: Yeah, I'm aware. I only buy things there that I can't find anywhere else and no expensive stuff. If I do get snookered, I won't be out for hundreds, I guess. My previous orders have arrived on time and without issue. @hornbrod: Why not? I would assume there's some kind of reason the factory put these things in. My truck does have considerable wind noise. I'm going to take any chance I can to improve it. And the XJs were all 94 and above. Keep us posted.
91Pioneer
I would try this but I can see daylight through my door seals LOL I have bigger wind noise issues to tackle first :)

daking
Adding these on some jeeps, would be like using a tube of silicone and a 3 big rocks to stop the Colorado river. With that said, I have done alot to make my MJ quiet. So I may get these, every little bit helps. Last time I had engine noise, I fixed it by turning up the radio. Sounds like that fits here.
