I was browsing TeamCherokee (I know, but some things you just can't get from anyone else) and came across this: http://teamcherokee.com/a-pillar-foam-bumper-seals-oem-cherokee-1994-1996/ Anyone know what this does or where it goes? The listing says it can be applied to earlier model XJs and MJs, but does it actually do anything?
mjeff87 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 It looks like they would fit inside the door jamb below the A pillar and above the upper door hinge. They would block the space that leads inside the fender. I think. Jeff

They weren't available until 1994, so for Jeep to manufacture them there must have been complaints about the earlier models. And they did leak around the A-pillars.

You probably have wind noise from the driver's seat cushion.

Were there complaints about early XJ's leaking or wind noise around the A-pillar? Or did you retire from your dealership before they started making XJs?

Pete M Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 there are some similar looking pads in my dakota and my best guess (at least in that truck) is that they prevent the wind from rushing up the a-pillar gap along the door seal (which might carry rain up with it too). just a guess.

If I do get snookered, I won't be out for hundreds, I guess. My previous orders have arrived on time and without issue. @hornbrod: Why not? I would assume there's some kind of reason the factory put these things in. My truck does have considerable wind noise. I'm going to take any chance I can to improve it.

And the XJs were all 94 and above. Keep us posted.

daking Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Adding these on some jeeps, would be like using a tube of silicone and a 3 big rocks to stop the Colorado river. With that said, I have done alot to make my MJ quiet. So I may get these, every little bit helps. Last time I had engine noise, I fixed it by turning up the radio. Sounds like that fits here.
