4.11 gears for dana 30 but not 4.10s. Its to bad cause they got some cheap prices

For all intensive purposes 4.11 is the same as 4.10. Some folks just round differently.

Keep in mind, most shops won't provide a warranty if you supply the parts.

Cool I didn't know that 4.10s and 4.11s work with each case other. And I'm probably doing the swap myself with a mechanic friend so I'm not planning on a warranty

The 8.8 swap you can do by yourself with a little help, The R&P install... You'll want to take into a shop.

There's a axle & driveline shop down the road from my house that does good work for a decent price. Idr the name off the top of my head, But if you're interested i'll look it up.

with all due respect not knowing the 4.10/4.11 thing might indicate a need for farming this job out.

I agree to some point.

But I also heed the advise given by an old friend, "you'll never learn to swim if you don't get your feet wet."

What I mean by this is that ring and pinions aren't totally out of the realm of a do it your selfer, if a person gets the tools, does their homework, a ring and pinion is not undoable at home. Granted there are specialty tools needed, no shortcuts allowed' and things can work out just fine. Myself, I'm autodidact, and I did just fine. Four R&P at home, 2 D30s and 2 8.8s, 4.10s and 4.56s respectively. If this is a one time thing, farm it out, or if your like me, a person who likes tools and the knowledge on how things are done, then go the other way and give it a try, just remember, if your not paying a shop and you F it up...it's your $$$$.

If I don't put it in 4wd ever can would 3.08s work with 4.10s in the back? This is probably a stupid question but I'm not sure

It will be fine if you stay in 2wd, But like shelby said, Pull the driveshaft just in case.. You don't want to deal with repairing it if the shifter gets pushed into 4wd on accident.

Also, it might just be cheaper to pick up a d30 with 4.10 gears already in it, And just swap the entire axle.

You could also probably find a non cad 4.10 (Not sure what years/etc had 4.10)
