Dadinator Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Here is my cheapo headliner solution. I got tired of trying to find a headliner board that wasn't in terrible shape. Picked up this fatigue mat for $17. Glued it up and trimmed. It is by no means perfect, but looks way better than the bare metal. Matches the floor mats too. :)
Knucklehead97 Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 I freaking love it! That will look great in mine once I paint the interior and install my rubber floor. Finally an idea for a cheap headliner that I liked :D
Knucklehead97 Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 If you don't mind me stealing your idea, that is, lol.
91Pioneer Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Personally I prefer the OEM look so I wouldn't do it, but it looks great, good job!
Comangi Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 What did you glue it to? Looks killer man, I'm going to try this.
Dadinator Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 What did you glue it to? Looks killer man, I'm going to try this. The roof.
Nobles41 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Great idea. Will it stay up there when your cab roof gets hot in the summer or did you insulate the roof before gluing the mat on? Keep us posted. Might go this route on mine.
Dadinator Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 Straight to roof. 3m contact cement. We'll see if it can take the heat.
HOrnbrod Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 A rubber floor mat? Agree it looks better than bare metal. Hope it hugs the roof tight over the summer. Nice ingenuity.
Mattman6 Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Where did you pick this up and do you remember the size it was? Harbor freight has one, but it looks to be way too small. I really want to do this in my truck.
DirtyComanche Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I was going to say it won't stay, but if it's the foamy stuff it probably will. Contact cement, despite being 'for use on rubber' doesn't hold rubber that well. Great idea, I'm going to have to see if I can find that stuff around here.
benjy_26 Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 That looks really neat! It may even make things quieter...
mikekaz1 Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Looks good! I like my bare metal roof too much tho, I guess I'm one of the few

ScottJeep Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 That is totally awesome! My roof is covered in sound mat so I'd be all over this. Like it better than the headliner board I paid to have recovered. Where purchased?
