For those who didn't know, I underwent cardiac (as in "open heart") surgery may 27. I finally talked my way out of the rehab center that was slowly killing me, and I've been back at home for two glorious hours.

I was VERY touched that some of you MJers actually took the trouble to track me down and call me in the hospital. Apologies if I didn't sound too coherent -- in fact, I wasn't (pain killers do that, I hear), plus I'm still pretty weak and I have trouble projecting my voice. Thanks from my newly-reconstructed heart for reaching out.

Recovery period is three MONTHS. That means this summer is not going to happen, for me. No physical projects on the horizon. It'll be two months before I can lift more than 20 pounds. I have too many excess XJ hulks sitting here and this as the summer they were going to be dealt with. Since I won't be able, I wonder if some of the MJers around Connecticut/Southern New England would be interested in coming over for a Sawzall day and just reducing the hulks to more portable condition.

In the process, if anyone needs something off one of the designated hulks, the more people can use is the less to be disposed of. There's even on '86 Pioneer 4-banger that I think could be made into a functional vehicle again, or a trail rig.

If there's any interest, we'll try to pick a date.

Welcome back Eagle. Glad you are home and the ordeal is over - now it's just recovery time. PITA I'm sure, but it will all be worth it down the road. Looking forward to seeing you in the Boston marathon next year.

Eagle - mixed emotions about the open heart surgery - sorry you had to have it but glad your recovery seems to be on track. As has been said, take heed of and comply with your doctor(s) instructions. I look forward to seeing your posts on the forum for quite a while longer.

Just think of the battle for the title of "Self-appointed President For Life of the International MJ Preservation Society". It could rival a south american government coup in its intensity.

Get well, my fellow Olde Phart.

Tough luck for sure - Good to hear you're coming out of it - - I absolutely dread going to those types of repair facilities - Their warranties aren't much & WHY does my RMS have to be checked each trip?   - - - - Take it easy on your valve job's three month break in - You'll be OK

Open heart surgery added 15+ good years to my father-in-law's life.  On top of that he met his second wife at Mended Hearts.  Not so bad.

So just do what the doctors tell you to do and you will be better for it.

The next time you have a need for any surgery drop by. Since I don't have a fancy operating room and a staff of assistants I can do it a hell of a lot cheaper. If you don't like JD, then bring your own anesthetic.

If I were closer.........don't cut it up.......would love to have one of those.

I did not know you were in surgery, explains your absence.

Recover well.

I maybe fairly new ,young, and not engrained into this community as some of the members are, but I am sincerely sorry about having to go through surgery, but certainly it is for the better. I am glad that you are recovering well from what it seems. You will be in my prayers to have a speedy and good recovery.
