ive seen other decals but NOTHING like the one on my mj

I'm stumped

All i know is the truck is basic No center console roll windows  2.8 1986

thats what i was thinking cause ive seen the Sportruck an eliminator a Pioneer

I'm thinking just stripping that decal off anyway

and now that i know its after market how do i find out what trim its?

Posted

I don't think the comanche really had a specific trim package except the Laredo(iirc)

They had all pretty much the same trim, engine, interior, and driveline packages

In '86, there were three trim levels, "custom" (base), "X" and "XLS". X was moderately up equipped, and XLS was high end. Respectively what became the Pioneer and Laredo in '87, if I'm not mistaken.

While the 2.8 was the "better" engine option at the time  , the X and XLS had badges on the fender and extra chrome.

so judgeing from that info ive got a "Custom" cause the only badgeing ive got is the comanche badge on my fender panel before the door and it had 4x4 badges on the bed but the po took those off and left the backing residue

Thanks gogmorgo I'm glad you were able to help me figure out what i was running

Since we're talking about MJ package features......

To this day, I've not seen or found an '87-'92 with power windows/locks/seats.

Am I correct in understanding that the '86 XLS was the only package where these power features were available?  I've seen a few of those.....

I have factory power windows and locks in my 88 Comanche pioneer . I'm the second owner at 65k . I had the door panels off to change the speakers (blown) and I was the first to take the door panels off ever . No marks or anything to show anything was messed with . I know the first owner personally .

It was an always an option that could be ticked, although I think power windows may also have been part of the Laredo package – just as they were with the XLS.

On a related note many dealers offer "packages" on vehicles and sell them as if they were factory. 30 years ago when I was a kid at a parts place people would insist that their 1977 Jeep Big Jumbo Texas Tenderloin Edition needed special parts just because some dealer installed cheesy tape graphics onto it....

I'm glad i aint ever come across that type of person

I'm the type of guy that a part is a part no mater what the badge

If it works i use it if not i sell the part or tear it apart and see how it works

There was a factory one close to that with the 4 X 4 on the door
