cjvaughn
I am doin a late model conversion on my87 and am in search of a more modern looking rear step bumper. Has any one tried putting a bumper off another mid size truck bumper on a comanche. If not what trucks would you guys suggest I start looking at for possible fabing. dasbulliwagen
I know its not a step bumper, but mine is off an XJ, it fits nicely. I had to make mounting brackets though, but that may be needed for any other different bumper as well.

neohic
I'm sure custom brackets were used to make everything line up. Few years ago Jim showed the difference between S10 and MJ parts HERE. Edit... Post #2000!!! It's the small victories in life...
krustyballer16
I've started to make one that looks just like the stock one. Not what you're looking for I know, but building one is an option....
Minuit
That's nice. Are you going to make provisions for the stock end caps as well? That's the main thing holding me back from aftermarket bumpers.
ParadiseMJ
This one came with it, I don't know if it's stock or not. I live in N. California and have little to no rust anywhere on my truck..except on this bumper. This bumper would not do well where salted roads and rust are a problem. It was rusty on the inside, I cleaned it up, rust converter and bedliner on the inside. It looks to be OK.
krustyballer16
I'm trying to figure out what I wanna do with them. Probably going to be the same design as stock. This bumper is a 1/2" taller and deeper than stock so the end caps won't fit. I've made a couple versions of endcaps but haven't liked any so far. Ive got about 25 hours so far in it, that includes throwing around different ideas.

They're pretty much the #1 option for MJ owners replacing their bumpers that don't build their own (or build the JCR bumper) Stock rear bumpers also rust really badly from what I've seen regardless of the rest of the truck's condition. carnuck
That Fey is the same as mine except mine is black and not chrome. I thought I posted a pic link? Edit: I did post a pic and someone erased it?

A lot of the MJs came in with NO rear bumper. Just brackets holding a 2 by 4. Dealers added the Fey bumpers and other brands.

I got notification of the new post and when I came to the thread it shows I have no posts, yet I am subscribed to it? How does that happen? I mean unless I subscribe, which I didn't do? I got this when I just posted this too: Sorry, you don't have permission for that! [#103128]The administrator has limited the number of new posts you can submit within a short time frame. Pete M
weird. :dunno: The current software is reasably glitch free, but anything can happen. If it occurs again, post up in the problems forum so Alexia can see.
carnuck
Can do! /hijack Here's my black Fey bumper (I have a spare mounting set in the parts for sale) 3500 lb tow capacity Good enough to tow this SX4 from almost the CA border to Seattle. carnuck
;) Not mine unfortunately. I traded my '82 Spirit to the guy (buddy of mine) who bought the SX4 after we converted the Spirit to 4x4.
a4xnut
Mine has an adapted XJ bumper as well. Since this pic was taken, I used a license plate bracket from the front of a 86 XJ and mounted the plate just inboard of the left bumperette. HOrnbrod
I have to admit I do like the looks of the XJ rear bumper on an MJ; it looks cleaner. It would be even nicer if the standard MJ hitch could be tied in as it is on the "step" of the step bumper.
mikekaz1
can someone show a mounted mount picture of your xj converted rear bumper?
