ParadiseMJ Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 XJ 4.0 original engine, tranny, transfer case 247,929 last month MJ original engine, used tranny t/c swapped in 189,000 or so...but the odometer did not work for two years. Side note: My 64 Mercedes had 365,000 on it when I sold it in 1990. Highest mileage I've ever had on any vehicle...original engine and all.
jimoshel Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I had '51 MB. 4 cyl, 4spd. Turned 300K when the wife wrecked it. Ran as good as the day it left the factory. Pulled the engine and hooked it up to a welder. Ran for another 5 years when I sold the welder.

He didn't think to take down the mileage on that engine and now I'm paying for it... But my truck is straight as an arrow and 99% rust free. Woot!
airspeed Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Mines up to 306K. It's my daily driver with a long commute. The best gas mileage I ever recorded was 24.6 mpg. Don't remember the date of this photo ~Feb.

It was great since I didn't pay for the gas. had ~360 on my 16V GTi when I rebuilt the original engine and put in a long gear trans. 32MPG city milage on an '88 model car. That effin' Motronic took forever to tune in. CL here typically list 200k-250k from the same period.
