onlyinajeep726
Well that sucks... lol. Perhaps being an '86 has something to do with it? All I know is that it's a 16 gal and it was on the truck when I bought it... Couldn't tell ya if they swapped it in at some point or if it was factory. Wasn't a bit rusty though after 28 years, so I dunno.
HOrnbrod
It's factory. The LWB MJs could be had w. 16 gal tanks through 1990. In 1991 the 16 gal tanks went away and 18 gal tanks replaced them.
92tanMJ
Thanks Alex - looks like I'll have to pass - it would be difficult for me and require exhaust work. It looks like those shocks are over 4" in diameter, si?. I can measure mine tomorrow afternoon if you would like me too?

If I get out of class early I will measure them before work and post back around noon, otherwise it'll be after 4 pm central time lol
onlyinajeep726
I just took a quick glance under my 16 gal equipped LWB and with standard diameter shocks, there's about an inch and a half of wiggle room between the bent flange of the tank and the shock... I think it will hit with the fatter Load Levelers.
Incommando
I noticed that these are being mentioned for use with a lift and also an SOA in one case. Lifts and larger tires often mean off-roading. Shocks of this nature usually do not help off-road and often effect flex. Just a heads up.

Don, it rained all days yesterday and is currently raining... I'll measure when it's decently dried up. Sorry for the delay
Roost426
I just installed the normal sensatracs on the back, do we use the metal spacer/washer on the top shock mount at all? It seems one side had it on mine and the other did not, So I have them both on right now without the washer.

I thought the metal washer was supposed to stop the nut from digging into the rub bushing :dunno: I used mine

HOrnbrod
Thanks. I think I see an easy way to make these fit on my LWB..............
ftpiercecracker1
Is this shock still available? I read ever pg of this thread and never came across a clear p# or link to look up. I would imagine these shocks in combination with metric ton springs and a LWB truck would be a pretty awesome hauling combination.

Minuit
I've had these shocks (as well as regular SensaTracs for the front) for a few months now, and I'm quite happy still. I've hauled several pretty heavy loads and never has the truck gone below level. They seem to have slightly raised the rear when unloaded as well. BIGHEEP
If anyone is looking to put these on a lifted vehicle here is the link to the shock lengths. The shocks you want are in the 585xx-586xx ish part numbers. http://www.monroe.com/assets/downloads/english/MonroeMountingLengthSpecifications.pdf

neohic
I was planning on using the load levelers and Sensa Tracs up front. Didn't work out with the levers on my LWB so I went with the Sensa Tracs all around.

ftpiercecracker1
Just ordered. Had to re-read the final checkout price a dozen times. $70 bucks for a pair of new shocks seems way cheap, but who's complaining? For comparison local orielly's is charging 100 a piece. Now to order a pair of the Sensa Tracs. :brows:
onlyinajeep726
This thread hasn't been updated in over a year, but they're available on Amazon, with Prime for less than $70/pair. http://www.amazon.com/Monroe-58497-Sensa-Trac-Adjusting-Absorber/dp/B0012X238G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1447270483&sr=8-1&keywords=monroe+58497

Megadan
My interest is peaked, but I would love to hear someone who has put some miles on them. I have a mild dislike of most monroe shocks as they seem to wear out quickly. How are these holding up?
