Just an idea, what about Commander (i know it my be a bit long for a dog's name) but then he would be the "Commander-in-Chief" haha.

so right now i think the possibilities (due to the GF veto-ing alot of my ideas) are as follows, in no particular order: Sawyer, Cooper, Atlas, Summit, Scout, Canyon....and I'm probably forgetting some

Name him dammit. So every time he won't listen you can say " Come here DAMMIT!!"   :D

Admiral A.J. (?) from JAG named his dog Dammit, he seemed to like it.

we have 2 themes for our Beagles

My dogs are named from the characters in "peanuts"

Snoopy

Charlie

Joe Cool (one of snoopy's alter egos)

and my parent's dogs

Chaos

Mayhem

Misschiph (her original name was white chocolate chip, dad wanted to incorporated part of her old name so we came up with that)

this is exactly what we're doing. our last dog picked her own name; we came up with a list and she responded to Gracie, so thats her name

I always picture German Sheperds as K9 Officers.....So I'm gonna have to go with the name "Justice"

Along the same line, how about Buford?

We went with regular, non-cutesy names for our dogs:

Macy [doxie/boston mix], sister to Wendy

Wendy [doxie/boston mix], deaf, sister to Macy

Rusty [shepard/chow mix], a big dunderheaded galoot
