Pull-A-Part pricing

anyone know what the Pull-A-Part brand yards charge for random bits of sheetmetal? specifically, I'm thinking of cutting out some MJ rockers to take back north. I don't see that choice in their parts pricing. :shake:

I know at LKQ it's up to the counter person or the manager. When I cut the back of that SWB off for my couch, I asked before hand, explained what I was up to, and put a feeler out before doing all the work to grab it. Ended up leaving with it for $7.50.

In the north much more than the south due to the fact that they know how hard rust free parts are to find. I called one here and the girl who is allways there told me $10.00 for a wheel arch. When I got there a guy told me at least $60.00 this was on a XJ. I dint ask them about rockers. Anyway if you can get a decent passenger wheel arch from a MJ that has a bent bed or something that makes the whole bed no good I would be interested. Pm me if you want more info such as how big a section and what you think it would cost me. I am trying to have my Classic to Current rockers (rebent) so they will fit right. I will know in a day or two how they turn out as there at the fab shop right now. If they can fix them I would be in for rockers also.

looks to me from the website they do have a sheet metal cut out pricing per foot of 9.95. seems kind of high for pull a part but then again a little flirting with the black chicks at the check out always helps

Funny that you mention that. Almost every LKQ down here I've been to has a strict NO ELECTRIC TOOLS policy. Must be a southern thing... and it can be quite a nuisance sometimes.... :fs1: :wall:

Up here, there are a few rules at LKQ:

No Alcohol

No Jacks

No torches

The day I got that bed section I had a generator, extension cords, angle grinder, and a handful of cut off blades... Depending on the day, you hear generators all over the yard. Makes the job so much easier. Electric impact/air impact, saws, grinders...

go to the parts pricing on the website, then click on the letter S. you have to enter your PAP location first though before the letters will work

holy crap am am I blind. I even looked up "sheet metal and didn't see "sheet metal" right there where it clearly says "sheet metal". :rotf:

at $40 a side, it doesn't really offer much profit. :dunno: guess it'll be a charity purchase like usual.

Sadly that doesn't work with the big ugly Bubbas that tend the check out points down here. :(

ouch. didnt think about that. at the one here the chicks work the check outs and check in. the dudes restock and crush the cars.

its pretty good. just throw a compliment their way and V8 GC tie rod becomes only a tie rod end or an axle shaft becomes only a ujoint. :D

Not sure, have a magnet on you?

Not really.

Well you must be one since I am attracted to you!

Pull A Part has the same rules. I have only ever seen one generator, but I've seen bunches of battery powered impacts, sawz-alls and angle grinders.

Used to be that way that the one in BR...but the manager got wise and installed a camera above the register. Last time we went the lady at the register wouldn't budge on anything :(

One of the things Rob and I learned... take things to the check out in the largest pieces possible.. And the other is go in when all of the folks that scarf wheels are clogging the check out.

There is a yard by where I used to live in NJ that was bought out by a woman, painted pink and renamed "Junkyard Barbie." Most of the time the you got the big Bubba or the older-than-dirt guy behind the counter, but on special days like "Customer Appreciation Day" the owner would pop her head out:

And on very rare occasions, the daughter would show her......face:

Despite the fact that I was more than likely better looking than the majority of junkyard goers with missing teeth/ears/eyes/hair, there was absolutely NO flirting with the owner to get a discount, but I enjoyed her presence all the same. A nice change of pace from the usual guy behind the counter.
