some crazy named storm

can't remember what the name of the stupid thing was, but I came home from the beach saturday afternoon to trees all over the roads, 100+ outside and no power. I call around, find out about the rare storm that came whipping through VA and the surrounding areas that had tornado speed winds. Ripping trees out of the ground all over. Today, my house is still without power, so I'm sitting outside my dad's office for A/C and internet, wondering if I'll ever sleep in my bed again. I know theres some members from this area on here and was wondering if anyone had damage because of the storm. We had 2 trees down across my .25 mile road and one in my yard thats dead and had been waiting to come down, but luckily no damage to any of our property, except for the garden.

I sure wish I stayed at the beach, where its much nicer weather and there is a/c.

We had one of these rip through northern MN last night. 80mph winds, probably a inch or two of rain, quarter size hail.....all lasted maybe 20 min. Temp even up here in the north country is 97 today. Makes me sick. I'm hiding in the house with the AC blasting.

Everyone who can't stand the heat will die in the first week when the Zombie Apocalypse comes. You're all weak. All you guys with plush MJs with A/C will be the first to go. Fortunately mine does not have A/C, so I and my truck can survive anything.

Yup you'll all be dead and the last thought before zombies eat your brains will be: "Dang it, I should have listened to Jay and removed my A/C, I'd be stronger and healthier just like him right now, tearing around in his Comanche running over hordes of zombies eating Cheetos just having a good ole' time".

You mean a Derecho? Yeah stupid word spanish for straight. Aka straight line winds, or bow echo is what we normally would call it. I think the Weather Channel is trying to use these new buzz words to make a name for themselves. How about a Haboob? O, just a dust storm.

I would like to have seen that on radar, this time I watched the Weather Channel for about an hour, they talked about it a LOT but never showed the radar. :hmm:

Yea thats it. stupid @$$ storm. Power came on last night around 8 and I was away from the house so I hurried my @$$ home to close windows and crank the a/c. Sure enough, when I got home, it was dark. :fs1: Power co. this moring says it should be back on this evening, first time theyve even given an estimate on when itll be back.

Oh and bring them zombies on...

I found the radar video on the storm. These are very impressive, we had one of these years ago in Michigan and it was a disaster for the trees and power.

Enjoy if you are interested in weather.

I don't know how to post the youtube video directly to the site so if someone feels so inclined please do so and educate me!

I was down in Ft. Lauderdale, FL for a wedding when the storm hit us back at home. It was MUCH cooler in Florida than it was back at home. It actually felt nice to be outside for a change. I'm in Queenstown, MD and we didn't get anything too bad around here - I heard we lost power for about 36 hours but I'm on the Eastern Shore so my power comes from a different source. Plenty of people at my office are from Annapolis and surrounding areas and thy got smacked pretty good. I know of one guy that still didn't have power as of this past Friday. Our president allowed those without power to camp out in the office until power returned, but I suppose everyone had too much pride as they went back home every night to 95 degree temps, 75-100% humidity and no A/C or fans. Don't care who you are or where you're from - that just plain SUCKS.

Yea, definitely sucks big time. I ended up getting power back around noon Thursday. At work friday someone said that he wasnt going to get power until Sat or Sunday. We had a random T-storm yesterday and our power went out for about 30 min and we just thought 'not again' :wall: but it came back.
