Coming soon to Moab !

NEW: Mopar Concept Jeeps

We just got early word about and some renderings of the Jeeps that Mopar Underground plans to bring to Moab this year. They include Mighty FC (a modern-day forward control Jeep), J-12 (a modern-day Jeep J-Truck), and the Wrangler Apache (modified Wrangler). We'll get the full scoop with images when we get to Moab for Easter Jeep Safari at the end of the month.

It's hard to tell from the limited info we can pull from a drawing but we suspect all three vehicles will be based on the current Wrangler chassis and suspension. The Mighty FC looks to have extensive body work to make it a Forward Control. The J-12 looks similar to the Nukizer pickup introduced several years ago in Moab. The Apache could simply be a Wrangler modified with aftermarket bolt on parts, or it could be a window into what could be available on the dealer lot as a factory option. We'll know more when we get to see these vehicles up close.

This is what Mopar had to say:

Jeep® and Mopar have teamed up once again to produce a selection of concept Jeep vehicles for the 46th annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. The Jeep Mighty FC concept, Jeep J-12 concept and the Jeep Wrangler Apache are three of six new vehicles that will be shown to enthusiasts in Moab, March 31 - April 8. Look for more on all of these new vehicles later this month.

Do they really have to dangle an FC in front of us? It was one thing to tease us with the NuKizer, but really? An FC?

We can only hope they are dangling these concepts out there to guage interest in various offshoots of the next redesigned Wrangler platform which will be coming out in the next couple of years. They are also looking at expanding the Jeep factory in Toledo where the Wranglers are built to add volume, and hopefully model offshoots like these. Lets just hope and pray that they are smart enough to keep the things solid axle front and rear, to retain heritage and customability (is that a word?) There seems to be a decent group of people in the company now, so we will see what happens when the time comes.

I'm just sick of it. jeeps making a truck, jeeps making a truck. then they take a wrangler and butcher it into a truck! give me a break. now this.

ill believe it when i see it on the showroom floor........

Yeah the Wrangler J8 is kinda bad, small cab, small bed. The FC would be the best way to maximize available chassis space and have a decent bed but I doubt they'll be able meet safety requirements with an FC design.

........but I doubt they'll be able meet safety requirements with an FC design.

Yup.......this is what killed FC vehicle for the US market in 1992. Total phucking pipe dream.

perhaps an fc won't be able to hit the safety standards, but there are still fc-style cab forwards on the market that do, and there's also the smartcar that doesn't look like it would, but does meet impact standards.

i still doubt it will happen though. or at the least, i'm skeptical.

(and yes, its photoshopped, not that we'll be seeing a new FC in any configuration on a showroom floor ever :( )

Damn!

Put a V8 5 or 6 speed in it, and tell me who to make the check out to!

While I'm dreaming, order me up a 10 passenger van like that as well.

:D
