brahlf
Hi, I am a new owner of a 1989 Comanche. I ran the VIN through your decoder and it says it's a 3 speed auto on the column, yet the truck has 5 speed floor shift. Can I get a complete build sheet as to how this was ordered? I know it's a long box but would like to know if it was a heavy duty. Thanks, Bruce VIN # 1J7FJ36L3KL589005
Comanche_on_a_budget
What do I do with a 16 digit VIN? Starts with a J for Japan but then everything else seems wrong since it is 1 digit off. 87' short bed 2wd just bought it last week, my first one and already addicted lol
Alexia
What do I do with a 16 digit VIN? Starts with a J for Japan but then everything else seems wrong since it is 1 digit off. 87' short bed 2wd just bought it last week, my first one and already addicted lol The VIN should be seventeen characters long. Someone left the 1 off the beginning of your VIN. Also, the J does not stand for Japan. It stands for Jeep.

gogmorgo
You may get lucky with the build sheets contacting Jeep directly (contact info's on their website) or else at a friendly dealer.
dj5
1j7ft66l8kl460303is my 89 eliminator vinwhen I look it up it says 4wd 4spd automatic with 7' bed :hmm:I have a swb eliminator with 2wd and 5spd manualI looked up my vin on another site decoding it myself and it seemed the numbers didn't quite line up right with 88-89 vins so I when I went to 90, it all lined up...could it be I just have a late model 89 with a 90 vin? here is where I manually lined up numbershttp://www.vehicleidentificationnumber.com/vin-decoder/jeep-truck.html hope the link helps anyone else with the same issue . :MJ 1: . gogmorgo
Your '89 model year is indicated by the tenth digit, 'K', regardless of when it was built. Some of the older info isn't accurate in most decoders... If you go into your local Jeep dealer, they should be able to look up your build sheet. Steve Gregory
The website said my jeep is 4wd, floor shift, and all that jazz. That's true, but I had to make it 4wd and floor shift. When I got it, it was two wheel drive on the column
