Dead Deer in my yard?

The deer got hit by a car, both of its back legs are broken, and it was floating in my ditch.

Somehow the deer moved itself in front of the empty lot next door! :dunno:

That was going to be my second suggestion, I was going to ask if you had a neighbor you didn't particularly like.

I get 1 or 2 a month that hobble into my yard to die. Being that I live right in the middle of about 1000 acres of farmland, the deer come in droves. Couple that with no streetlights anywhere on my road and things get a bit hairy. I've only hit one in my 10 years of driving, but have had dozens of close calls. My township is extremely lazy about picking them up, though. You call to notify them that there is a dead deer in your yard. They go on the defensive and assume you've shot it illegally out of season. Then you tell them it was hit by a car so they send a guy out to spray paint an orange X on it. Several days later someone will come by and haul it away. Not so bad in the winter, but the summer is pretty nasty. Their bellies bloat up, they stink, and the vultures rip them apart. Also makes our dogs try their hardest to escape from the backyard to go and eat the remains.
