At least the $300 taillight type of people are entertaining. :D

My thing is that the junkyard guy simply hadn't followed the rules yet and JT jumped down his throat. That was unnecessary. Need a bit more patience next time.

It kinda snowballed the more I thought about it.. :D

I suggest though, that we have a new "rule" reguarding classifieds....

if you're interested in the part from someone like this, and you send a pm, post "pm sent" in the thread.

that way, if someone pulls what they were pulling on mfpdm, and someone has their suspicions of that happening, you can contact each other, call the person out on it, and at least someone should (theoretically) be able to get the scammer to come to a decent deal.

will that work?

:agree: i might add something, like "pm sent about ____(fill in the blank for part)".

yeah, well I just want you guys to know that Wahoo is offering to meausure the lip on his rim via PM's and not only is he only charging me $400 (I'm not sure if it's for the measurement, lip, or the actual rim) but it sure is cheaper than the $1000 pesos Hornbrod told me he could get me the same lip for.

By the way please don't ban me because I only post in the pub. I think it just has to do with the fact that after 2 years, I still haven't figured out anything useful about the truck that I can post in tech and I have a nasty tendency to just give away crap instead of sell it in classifieds.

Anybody seen my couch. I think that guy's phone# fell in between the cusions

PS. where the hell is the spellcheck button on this thing? (Or should that be in tech?)

What's matter JT, did he give you some outrageous quote on this un-findable part you need from the Millenium Falcon for your wipers or whatever it was?

Heck yeah I've been missing the Jedi Training Ball for 20 years.....

I'm just speaking from experience here, but guys like this who have very brand specific parts like this are going to rape you without any sort of reach around, or ky.. If you can afford it then be my guest... I know I can't, but like I said before I hope I'm wrong and I'll man up if I am, but my gut is telling me I won't be..

If I buy something from NY its going be from Wildman.. He's a carpenter not a parts dealer

Its the same thing as Motion Offroad, or others at lest MO gives us a LOT of know how what not.. Not like this guy. Besides if you need something don't call that dood,,, POST A WTB in the Classifieds.....

Aww, come on. It wasn't completely his doing. I pulled the cap off the gas can and left the matches out with the first post. I pretty much knew what would happen.

I'll offer up a token of peace.

I'm a moderator on another forum. We have a minimum participation before you can post classifieds -- ten posts/30 days. It isn't a lot, and it doesn't seem to discourage the types we would like to keep out but the owner of the forum isn't inclined to beef up the prerequisites, so we live with it.

But we do require that any item being offered for sale have a price attached to it. We do not allow our forum to be used as an auction site, and we also do not allow items to be advertised on our forum if they are listed elsewhere on a forum. We've had a few people try to sneak that by us -- if a sharp-eyed member spots an intem that's in our Classifieds on an auction site, we remove the ad from our site and ban the person, permanently.

It's not that we're opposed to someone making a buck. Our view is that, if someone has something one of our members wants or needs, it helps the membership to have it be advertised. What we will not tolerate is the kind of gamesmanship described above, wherein the seller lies and tries to play one buyer off against another. That's definitely unkewl.

that's no token of peace...

on an individual basis, there will be bad apples who try and rip off others no matter how many regulations you put in place. however, they can be harmful to those with honest intentions. when my wife got in an accident with our nissan, i didn't have a membership on any nissan sites, but i did post up a few parts for sale. i never got much response, which is understandable, but there are people who have a legitimate reason to post just a few times to sell things.

so, if you read the bolded quote...

were I to list something in classifieds on that site, I could not then have it posted on craigslist or ebay? I don't know how that makes sense. if I get a good offer from a member, I'll give them a good deal and cancel the auction. if some jerkoff tries to give me $5 for a factory cargo light and switch...well, I'll be leaving it on ebay to get $100, when all the person offering had to do was be realistic and tell me they'd pay $50 shipped. then it would be cool.

I understand that you're trying to prevent someone from playing members against each other. just making you aware that there are guys who will take their fellow jeepers over joe blow ebay, if it's worth the time and effort for them.

Thats what I'm saying... A true Jeep'r will hook you up not screw you over,, at least in my perfect world.. Unfortunately, I tend to relate a our whole society to what has been happening lately on here and other forums. Or more like how society in a whole has become.. Our actions and greed as a whole has really decayed this country. All the plants around me are shutting down, unemployment is at a staggering high and climbing, people losing their houses, lives, and pride. I mean I know I've come down hard on these one hit wonders, but I feel its my duty and right to fight for justice and to be treated fair. I feel like alot of you are family, and it bites me hard when someone tries to take advantage of my blood you know..

LETS TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK!!!!!!!! ITS UP TO YOU, ME, AND US TO FIGHT AGAINST THE EVIL EMPIRE!!!

Where are you going to be standing when the time comes to fight???

I will right beside you my brothers... Isn't that what it means to be a true Jeep'r??

The next time your wheeling you'll see the unity of others when someone is in need and how many can pull together to overcome.. Next time you see someone hurt, or distressed you'll see the quickness of others to lend a helping hand, if you just open your eyes and not look the other way; because one day it very well might be you that needs that hand to grasp...

I sold my OE wheels from my car on a forum where I had one of the "limited but free" memberships. I was also on there looking for wheels to buy, but I would have had a harder time selling the OE ones if they were not on an enthusiast forum. Once I sold them and bought some new aftermarket wheels, I've pretty much been MIA from that site other than an occasional visit. But I DO understand a situation like this where it's not just some individual trying to unload a few parts or even sell his truck, but a retailer of some sort possibly looking to take advantage of the site. But then again, I still say if that guy has a part that either I can't find or is in better condition than anything I CAN find, and I AM WILLING to pay a premium for it, that's my decision.

And jeepco, you're 2 for 2, I agree with you again. I read Eagle's post also and quite frankly that's just simple BS! to say if I have something on eBay or Craigslist that I can't post it here at the same time. The wheels and tires I have in the classifieds right now are also listed on jeepforum and Craigslist. I need to sell them and I should be able to offer them to the largest audience possible.

I try to cover the ebay issue with simply requiring a price. That eliminates the need to have more rules about not posting links to an ebay auction. The classifieds is a place to sell stuff to fellow Jeepers, not a place to advertise your business or your auctions. Do I care if you also have it on auction? No not really. But you must post a price here. Having not come up with a price list, I've removed the contact info from the jeep farm post. When he puts one together, I'd be more than happy to return everything to normal.

All he had to do to comply with the rules was post up some example prices. Seems that was too hard. :dunno:

Not to stay on this

The point is........this is not the first time someone "Jump" in here, posted up their "Business" like a hungry Used Car Salesman, and then never followed up with there posts.

I know you got alot of scanning to do everyday, I don't even have the time to get thru all the new post everyday  But, with a general posting limit set, before classified adds can be posted, this would not happen, and it would cut down on your work load everyday.

For that "one" guy that has the one rare part, looking for the target audience, let them post up on E-bay or Craigslist, and you know, a regular supporting member here will find it, and let others know about it, I can find 3 posts this morning all leading back to Craigslist for rare MJ parts and vehicles.

Your right on setting rules, and there are not alot of rules to follow here, things runs smooth with out too many rules, But.......how many of the "new" posters even read the 'posting rules' :hmm:

I have no Idea what you send the newbies when they join, you know........"Welcome to the CC........Read the posting rules?? Don't post junk adds in your first post?? Spammer are not allow (only in the classified section) ??? :dunno:

JT, ME, Others, are just trying to keep things clean here, and have no problems with the new members (or old members for that matter  ) We're just fed up with the people jumping in here, and trying to make a quick buck on a 'super rare Red '89 swb, 2wd, MJ and only asking $7k, must be sold this week, come with $$$ in hand (and a trailer, cause it don't run) type adds. And that's the first, and in most cases there only post.

I could mention a couple of "past" members that don't show up here any more, cause I've bought there MJ from them........I didn't chase them away, I just caused them not to come here anymore for the info they needed, cause I've got there "interest" sitting in the herd

I've bought and sold alot of parts (and MJ's) thru the classifieds adds, and even chased down some 1-2 posters on there MJ's, and that always seam to be a bust, and yea, I've gone thru the "well.......this other guy offered me $5 more than you did......and well......" And I know enough to walk away, and let them have there fun playing that game.

I'm done with my soapbox.gif
