SuperWade2
I don't know how you dudes in about 40 other states deal with Snow every year for multiple months of the year... I grew up with the stuff (Nebraska), but have been in California now for 10+ years and I forget... We are up in the mountains to do a snow run with my club @ Twain Harte, CA, in the Sierra's... we came up a day early and glad we did...we towed the TJ behind my Chevy Tahoe (which is barely enough)...we had no problems, but about 7 am today it just started dumping snow... we got about 14" between 7am and Noon..was just crazy snowing... The roads were all closed, they were making RV's and 4x4's put on chains ($250 fine if you are not at least 'carrying" chains)... We have a cabin, so hung out, played in the snow the kids, etc. We are wheeling tomorrow, so will be interesting to see how that goes... Luckily I have plenty of food and beer if we get snowed it for a good while! This was fairly early on before it really started dumping... Sir Sam
"Everything having to do with cars and driving in california is completely phucked up" It is so goofy that california requires you to carry chains. and slightly less stupid that they require you to use them. People from real snow belts just laugh when they head california requires chains.

DirtyComanche
Towing with a 2wd in snow is ALL about momentum. And unloading your jeep to recover your tow rig when that fails.
mvusse
I would not be worried as much going uphill towing a rig like that, as going downhill. Unless the trailer brakes worked real good, AND the trailer has chains on it. Nothing like locking up your trailer brakes on the snow going downhill and watch the tail of it pass you by as it jackknifes. But yeah, snow wheeling can be fun. A little less rocky, a few less trees and it could be the Lake Huron/Georgean Bay area in Ontario.
jtdesigns
Use the Jeep to pull the 2wd out/down, then go back and get the trailer with the Jeep.

SuperWade2
Got lucky...warmed up to just under 40 and the snow turned into Rain...we got out of town before the next front...had no issues towing the trailer with the Jeep on it....just got home...will try to post a couple more pics once I get unpacked.
