Pete M Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 pulled the 88 back into the garage after I discovered I missed a semi-important step... well? short version: it's important to re-torque the U-bolts after weight is on the leafs. this is especially important if your perches aren't welded yet. that's what I get for being in a hurry. photos when I finally get a chance to finish the job.

2360 Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Did some touch up painting, using brush and rust paint out of a can. Gotta get'er done before the cold weather arrives. Having some issues with tail lights. Sometimes the left brake light doesn't work sometimes it does. Sometimes the right tail light parking light doesn't work sometimes it does. After some poking around, looks like the switch in the steering column is going bye bye. Time for another pick n pull special. I don't like taking the steering wheel apart. Took some pic's of what looks like a crack in the bell housing. I'm hoping it's not cracked.
Pete M Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 call it the poor man's high pinion axle. :rotf: or the u-joint killa.

Pete M Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 yeah, I needed the garage space for something else and so rushed it the first time and forgot to re-tighten the bolts once the truck's weight was on them.
