  1. HELP!! In the process of putting my dash back in my 88’ mj. I completely gutted the interior to swap in a different dash and do the heater core. Must’ve forgot some wiring somewhere when putting the dash back in but I have no idea where. Trying to charge the battery, and when the tender is turned on this is what happens when I turn the key on and off. When the key is off, the ac compressor clicks. When the key is on the compressor stops clicking and the fuel light/cluster gauges pulse along with the seatbelt light and radio screen. And one of the circular relays under the dash starts clicking. Gauge cluster and climate control lights also won’t come on. Also does different stuff when I have the headlight switch pulled out. I’m thinking some kind of ground but like I said I’m lost. Everything seems to be plugged back in… Any ideas?? 😔
  2. I want to put the 97+ dash in my truck, but I don’t want to convert to OBD ll. Has anyone done this or know a way to retain the Renix engine management and gauges while swapping the interior? I thought about using a custom gauge cluster in a blank template that fits the newer dash, but I wasn’t sure which gauges work with Renix. ideally I just want to update the interior and allow the ability to run a double din radio with the already existing center dash swap that’s out there. Any ideas would be helpful!
  3. Hello there! This is my first post here, so go easy on me if I'm missing anything! That being said, here's the situation: my 1990 Comanche Pioneer has many cracks throughout the dashboard. For those that have gone this route, any advice on repairing the cracks versus just replacing it with a dash from a same-year xj? Follow-up, is it possible to replace the dash with a same-year xj? I had seen some other threads regarding post 96 swap, and some mentioning of firewall differences between 4.0 and previous engine set-ups. Any help is appreciated, I just want to get in the process of starting to restore it while I have time on my hands.
  4. This guy near me has two bezels that I believe to be Comanche Parts. They look like they're in great condition. If anyone has any interest I'll go and barter this guy down on price and will ship them at cost. DM if you're intersted https://boise.craigslist.org/pts/d/dash-bezel/6499330904.html
  5. Hello. Is a 1986 comanche dash a direct fit into a 1987 comanche? Thank you.
  6. Whenever my battery is connected, the battery and oil dash lights come on immediately without the key. After starting the vehicle they go off. This is pretty annoying as I have to disconnect the battery every time I turn off the truck. I've been slowly repairing small electrical issues/cleaning grounds, but none have fixed this yet. (They've been on since I bought the truck). Fuses are good, most dash lights and exterior lights work as normal. I have one other issue, when the headlights are on the right blinker arrow lights up too. No idea if it's related but thought I'd mention it. Has anyone had experience with this before? I searched and searched and haven't found anything yet. I guess I could always take the bulbs out :dunno:
  7. After heavy rains, there is water standing in my passenger floor board. I sat in the truck once and watched it come down the firewall from under the passenger side dash. Someone recommended that I take the grill off from under the windshield wipers and make sure the little drain hole isn't plugged up but dang if I could find any drain hole. Any other suggestions where this might be coming from? And I have a little surface rust on the floorboards. I've long since removed the carpet and padding and just have the sheetmetal showing. What can I coat that with to keep it from rusting?
  8. Trying to take the heater box out of my '88 MJ and the studs that go through the Firewall are spinning with the nut. Thats not the problem, althought it is, but I'm looking for a fix to replace those studs once the box is out and ready to put back in. I have an idea of drilling out stud locations and using long screws or thread all with JB Weld to replace the trashed studs. Has anyone ran into this problem and if so, any words of advice someone might be able to pass along? Thanks
  9. My son installed a CD in my dash all seemed to work perfect. So I left my lights on, turned off ing. and the radio stayed ON. Turn on radio no lights, turn on lights ing. off = radio's ON.. again. HELP.. strange ?? lights hooked to radio.??
  10. I know somewhere on this forum it the info i need and have tried to find it without any luck. We too dads MJ up to the shop to get the ac running again.. Saturday we drove about an hour with the ac on after it rained and water started coming from the dash, The MJ has not leaked prior to refilling the ac so i dout its rain water leaking in. but i remember heading here that there was a little hose that allows the condensation from the ac through the firewall and to outside.. I just can't locate that tube to clean it...
