Bench Seat--Seatbelt Replacement Dilemma
Comanchakazie replied to Comanchakazie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
@eaglescout526 Thank you! I will try to look for some old stock then @Eagle I was told the rear 3 point seat belts from the rear bench of an xj aren't a safe replacement for the for front 3 point seat belts. I don't quite understand how that would work, but I wanted to verify it in case it was true for whatever reason. @87MJTIM They are likely repairable, but I only have the driver's male end, the middle female end, and the passenger's 3 point. Overall I'd just prefer to replace them. -
Hello, I am the proud owner of a 1990 jeep Comanche sport truck. I it has a bench seat, but the seatbelts are all but functional, and serve no purpose just lying there as decoration. I need advice from more experienced Comanche aficionados. I was looking for new seatbelts in the cordovan color, and found only two seat belt vendors I narrowed my choices down to. 1: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jeep-Comanche-1985-1992-Standard-3pt-BURG-Bench-Seat-Belt-Kit-3-Belts/254253826370?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20200818142525%26meid%3Dda79e8a587944c1497a8e9318063e2e6%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dco%26sd%3D123811081967%26itm%3D254253826370%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv5PairwiseWebWithBBEV2bDemotion&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851 2: https://teamgrandwagoneer.com/seat-belt-assembly-jeep-grand-wagoneer-1968-1991/# I will say for #1, I don't like it as much simply because I am trying to get as close to the factory look as I can, but I'd rather not sacrifice safety because of design preference. #2 Would be my most preferred option, but the dilemma arrives for me in that I do not know if these would be suitable for my Comanche bench seat. I want the 3 passenger seat belts, but I heard somewhere that the seatbelts from a rear Cherokee/wagoneer are not safe enough to use as your front driver and passenger seats. If you were restoring your Comanche, which set would you buy? Would the second set (#2) be safe enough to use for my Comanche bench seat? I hope I wasn't too verbose, I want to be as descriptive as possible. In any case, any help and feedback is much appreciated. Kudos from Arizona

Hello there! This is my first post here, so go easy on me if I'm missing anything! That being said, here's the situation: my 1990 Comanche Pioneer has many cracks throughout the dashboard. For those that have gone this route, any advice on repairing the cracks versus just replacing it with a dash from a same-year xj? Follow-up, is it possible to replace the dash with a same-year xj? I had seen some other threads regarding post 96 swap, and some mentioning of firewall differences between 4.0 and previous engine set-ups. Any help is appreciated, I just want to get in the process of starting to restore it while I have time on my hands.

I just like the look of them. Bummer though, some guy was selling a Comanche for 1500 obo, but didn't budge on selling the roll bar -
Original Roll Bar Dissasembly

So I should be fine with a impact drill? -
So I am still pretty new to the whole Comanche world, and car ownership, for that matter. I saw a Comanche for sale with the factory roll bar on it, but I was wondering if they were bolted on/welded on, and how easy would it be to take one off? What tools would I need or how would I go about it?

Replacement (aftermarket) Seat Belts
Comanchakazie replied to Comanchakazie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks, I'll look into other jeep belts! But having the maroon interior, I wanted to order some universal ones from seatbeltsplus.com to keep it the same color -
Comanche Sunroof Feasibility
Comanchakazie replied to Comanchakazie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Who had you gone to to get it installed? And where did you find the sunroof you wanted? -
I'm not exactly set on this, this is more of a down-the-road kind of deal, but I'm curious how could/would someone go about installing a sunroof/moonroof? And who would be the type of person to consult professionally?

AX15 Identification

Is there any way to tell physically which transmission one has? Or is it safe to assume my '90 4.0 manual is AX-15? -

Car Cranks but Won't Start Up
Comanchakazie replied to Comanchakazie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
How do I do that? -
Alright, so the car started up about 2-3 weeks ago when I bought it. I can't really drive it around, because it didn't pass emissions, so it's been sitting in the AZ heat. A few days ago I tried starting it so it wouldn't die, and it wouldn't start. I jump-started it, and added starting fluid, but nothing has gotten it to start up. Any ideas what it could be or what I should check? Sorry for the long post

OBD Reader on Comanches
Comanchakazie replied to Comanchakazie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Haha, yeah, I figured. But it had an obd, and I was wondering if it would work, so I can go purchase the reader. Specifically, I know it won't start. It cranks, but won't turnover. That was only recently. There is also a leak coming from the transmission and the rear end of the driveshaft, which I'm curious about. Also, it's a base 1990 4.0L
