    Donuts???

Has anyone done any dry pavement donuts? I never tried one in a Jeep my until today I in my DD XJ . :D It has 3" of lift and 31x10.5-15's on it. 8) It did 3 perfect lefthand donuts followed with about a 50ft side to side fish tail. It was perfect. I never thought my '94 4.0 XJ with 3.55 gears could do one much less 3. I could have done them at least 3 mores times. :brows: There is a new subdivision that has no houses because of the economy. It has a dead end with the perfect size cul de sac that I used. ;)
  3. I bought a '77 F-150 disc brake HP D44 (1/2" thick tubes w/weld on brackets)and two 9" rear axles(one has new brake & drums) for $250.00. '79 HP D44's have thin tubes with cast mounts.

    Gas prices

Waterford WI = $4.15, Clinton WI = 3.92 about 40 minutes apart. Whats up with that???
  5. 33" tires will fit with 3" or more lift with proper fender triming and raised flares. :hmm: 10.50's fit much easier the 12.50's.
  6. I'm not sure but the one on my MJ does. It needs a new home too. :brows: Image Not Found
  7. Great Lakes XJ also has major copyright infringment issues with the Factory Service and Parts catalogs/manuals he has posted in the tech section for download on his site. I'm sure Chrysler didn't give him permission to duplicate or reproduce any of the catalogs/manuals. I'm sure there are more copyright issues on the site.

    first mod

Cut the fenders and swap tires. :brows:
  9. everything was put back in tonight, but started to rain so couldnt snap any pics. and Tim, i already have a winch and custom front bumper with a rear bumper coming soon. Sweet
  10. I will say your MJ is one of my favorites. The bedliner looks great. It should look good once everything is put back in. Some nice bumpers and a winch would be great to finish the look. It's a Jeep it will never be done. A 4.7" HO stroker engine would be sweet. I could spend $20,000.00 building mine easy. It wouldn't even look close to stock. Yours is almost too nice, I'd feel bad about any trail damage on yours. Mine will be meant to be beat on and bounced off stuff.
  11. I'm doing it the hard way. I'm going to build frame work that welds to the floor and ties into the rollcage I'm also building. My seats won't adjust, they will bolt directly to the frame work and it will use a 4 point harnesses.
  12. You should really drill a hole about 1.5" forward to increase the shackle angle. This will improve your ride quality quite a bit and allow for more droop with longer shocks. :brows: Trust me, you will be glad you you relocated the upper mounting point forward. It's well worth the time.
  13. My advise. Relocate the upper mounting hole forward for more flex and a better ride. Image Not Found
  14. Rubber front bushings and greasable rear poly bushings with a slightly longer grease shackle is the best combo I've had. It will have the ride of rubber bushings and the rear greasable bushings will allow the rear suspension to flex freely and increase the amount of travel if your shocks are long enough. I have 14-15" of total rear travel with my Stanley springs, 1.25" lift greasable shackles with the relocated upper shackle mounting point. Image Not Found
  15. Yah, got it... a little "persuasion" and it went on... Moved the Swaybar around a little bit and mounted the disconnect so that it would go on...I don't know that it would really be considered a "quick-disconnect" when I go to disconnect it the first time. I remember now why I didn't really care for the Teraflex Disco's (and can't say that I'm really happy with the Rubicon Express Gen 2 ones on my TJ... I guess that's why I the ORO Swayloc will probably be my next big mod). Thanks SW2 If you do swap them out I have a home for them. ;)
  16. :agree: Just jack up one side or the other and they will go on. A 2nd person to rock your rig some works too.
  17. If the weld is done with enough penetration :brows: It will hold. I have had this problem before and welded a second lugnut on using a 220v welder set at 175 amps. Both nuts were glowing after I welded them together. The key is the weld quailty.
  18. Those are stock flares. You can use 96 and older XJ front flares('95-'96 XJ flares taper out towards the front). You will need MJ flares in the rear since they have a larger wheel openings then XJ' do. In the pictures below are front flares are 95 XJ flares that have been raised and reworked. You can cut and raise them to the bodyline like this. Image Not Found Raised to bodyline. Filled gap. Modified inner fender liner. Stuffed. Flexing Or you can get wilder like this. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found I just started cutting and reshaping the front part of the inner fender. The inner fender curve extends all the way to the core support. I have raised my flares as much as possible, as I have posted before. It has 6.5" of lift with some wornout 31's on it right now. It will have 35" tires when it is finished. Here is a picture of the inner fender after raising the flares with 33" tires. Image Not Found I cut the front of the inner fender for a dramatic increase in room. My goal is to get as much uptravel as possible as part of my build. I still need to do some more welding, then clean up and paint it. Here is a picture looking straight down from under the hood. Image Not Found Here is a picture the inner fender. I gained 4" or more of clearance. The difference is dramatic. Image Not Found There is now more room in front the tire then from the rear or above. I should be able to stuff the tire about 3" more and still be able to turn from lock to lock. As part of the build the front axle will be moved forward 1". Comparison between stock inner fender and my cut inner fender. Image Not Found Image Not Found I have since finshed the welding and cleaned up the weld lines.
  19. I like the style my 94 and 95 XJ's have/had. The 95's header and grill are on my MJ. I would do a 97 style grill is I can find SWB MJ to stuff a 400+hp 340 in. The 2500 style isn't my style.
  20. The base is totally different. From what I can tell the best way would be to cut the early bases and the '95 bases then position them how so they sit amout 2' lower the the 95's height. You can also move them back a few inches for extra leg room. Then weld them down and enjoy.
  21. In 1996 the XJ seat brackets/style changed, and will not "bolt-in" w/o mods. 1995 and below will. 1995 is when they changed the seat design. I'll check my '95 seats and see how they fit.

    Potato Gun

3 foot 2" barrel with a 15" long 6" back chamber that has a 2" 45 degree angle on it that the charcoal drill lighter is mounted in. It is wrapped in ducttape and the back cover is used as a safetly blowout. I love using blackwalnuts that have just fallen from the tree and still have the green "skin" on them... Wicked, they could probably kill someone. I killed a raccoon with a walnut. :brows: aquanet and O2 from the torch is about the best propellant I've found. I want to make a half sized one as a raddish pistol. 8)
  24. I can't even think of what I want say to my wife. I've been married fo 20 years and my daughter will be 20 real soon and my son will turn 18 a couple of months later. I think it will be time the judge ends my sentence. I just can't deal with it anymore.... I've served my time...
