So I came up with this idea for havin a cup holder since mine didnt come with one. I took some foam from a outdoor seat cushion. First, I cut it to have the same rectangular shape width wise. Then, cut it on an angle to compliment the counsle better. Finally, dug out two holes for the cups. They barley move, stay insulated, stretches to any cup size and the cup holder is totally removable!

I also have a Chrysler center parking sticker on my window becaue the guy that used to own it was a executive at Chrysler so probably another reason why he let me through!

So I was drivin to the detroit auto show with my two girls (My girlfriend and my truck) ;) and I wasnt sure where to park so I asked this guy where to go. I was all dressed nice and stuff and had the truck sparkled up too. He told me to take this route around back and he had to move these gates for me. So, I continued forward and when I got around to the back... There were all these fancy cars and truck haulers!! and the garage doors to drive into cobo! He thought I was apart of the auto show and wanted to drive the truck inside! This was the first day of opening but still!! How funny is that. When I was tryin to figure out what to do, this other guy came over and told me to turn around and get out haha :laughin: Jeep Comanche!

The fact that you can say your a true jeeper and yet your drivin a sick truck you can build/modify anyway you want. I mean there is absolutly no better feeling than pulling up to a muddin spot when EVERYONE is looking at you with the only Jeep Comanche there. Everyone stops and looks and come to talk with ya about it. It is just a badass truck. It also will probably do better than any other truck there. Not only muddin, I get people while I'm driving flag me down or givin me the thumbs up. Practically checkin out my truck instead of watching the road.

Rear Sliding Window Leak?
1989 Eliminator replied to xjustinx's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Does your side vent window (Triangle lookin window) on the drivers side leak at all too? if you have one... -
Okay so I looked up on older MJ's that the vent window or the small triangle window had a recall on the drivers side. I was wonder if anyone else has the same issue and how they fixed it. I was thinkin of just buying some extra rubber window liner to put on the edge and silicon.

That is your PCV hose (pressured cranckcase ventalation). This is there to relieve pressure that builds up in the crankcase. That air coming form the crankcase goes directly to your air box to then go right back into your engine. That air is just pressured air (not high pressure) coming from the enigine. Not a big deal and does not hurt anything or your performance..

Doesn't Want To Start
1989 Eliminator replied to MJCARENA's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This website helps: http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Engine/Basic_Sensors_Diagnostics.htm This is the fourm I was talking about: Test the CPS first. Renix CPS Testing and Adjusting Renix CPSs have to put out a strong enough signal to the ECU so that it will provide spark. Most tests for the CPS suggest checking it for an ohms value. This is unreliable and can cause some wasted time and aggravation in your diagnosis of a no-start issue as the CPS will test good when in fact it is bad. The problem with the ohms test is you can have the correct amount of resistance through the CPS but it isn’t generating enough voltage to trigger the ECU to provide spark. Unplug the harness connector from the CPS. Using your voltmeter set on AC volts and probing both wires in the connector going to the CPS, crank the engine over. It won’t start with the CPS disconnected. You should get a reading of .5 AC volts. If you are down in the .35 AC volts range or lower on your meter reading, you can have intermittent crank/no-start conditions from your Renix Jeep. Some NEW CPSs (from the big box parts stores) have registered only .2 AC volts while reading the proper resistance!! That’s a definite no-start condition. Best to buy your CPS from Napa or the dealer. Sometimes on a manual transmission equipped Renix Jeep there is an accumulation of debris on the tip of the CPS. It’s worn off clutch material and since the CPS is a magnet, the metal sticks to the tip of the CPS causing a reduced voltage signal. You MAY get by with cleaning the tip of the CPS off. A little trick for increasing the output of your CPS is to drill out the upper mounting hole, or slot it so the CPS bracket rests on the bell housing when pushed down. Then, when mounting it, hold the CPS down as close to the flywheel as you can while tightening the bolts. I had the same issue as you and it is very possible it is your CPS sensor. (crankcase position sensor) Give me a few and ill find the fourm page about this. -
I'm from Utica, Michigan and looking to do a 4wd conversion on my 1989 MJ. Would like to get: (all parts need to be 1991 or older) Aw-4 Automatic Transmission 4x4 Transfer Case Front driveshaft Rear driveshaft (MJ only) Front axle (D30) All these parts expect rear driveshaft can be from an XJ. PM me for any offers. Thanks!

That is exactly what I want to do with my 89 MJ. . :MJ 1: .

1989 Mj 2Wd To 4Wd Conversion

I have also never swapped out transmissions before so is that really a big job? Setting up the clutch for a manual and all the linkage required. -
1989 Mj 2Wd To 4Wd Conversion
1989 Eliminator replied to 1989 Eliminator's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
okay that is what I meant I had.. Aw-4. Well, besides junkyards and craiglist are there any other places to find some decent 4wd trannys and axles? -
So I plan on doing the 4wd conversion to my 1989 2wd automatic 4.0L MJ. I obviously want the cheapest route and don't mind the work needed. I guess my question is, if i found another xj within the years 87-90 (renix) does everything swap right in? besides the rear driveshaft (I know that would have to be re-sized). I also have an automatic tranny right now and keeping it would be less costly and less work than getting a manual trans but would my ax4 be a good match up for a transfer case? Or would I have to swap the trans from a donor with a 4x4 auto? This is my first big project for me so help would be appreciated!

Gave me a good understanding of how to work on a jeep and what parts do what. Love working on the Jeep. But mostly a good sense of pride driving it around town getting looks all the time.

1989 Renix No-start Condition issue
1989 Eliminator replied to 1989 Eliminator's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
haha I seen that! :shake: It actully has been running good so far. I upgraded my grounds using what that link on page one told me to do. Ill post pictures of what cables I used and where I put them. But no, I have not adjusted my TPS. But I tested it with a multimeter and it turned out to be OK. -
1989 Renix No-start Condition issue
1989 Eliminator replied to 1989 Eliminator's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Here is the CPS diagram for drilling out the sensor so it can sit closer to the flywheel for better contact. Drilling out "A" can give a small amount of movement towards the flywheel. Push down onto the sensor while tightening the sensor to make sure it is pressed as far as it can go. Make sure you only use one-two drill bits bigger than the one that fits originally in the hole.. or else the sensor could come too close to the flywheel and ruin the sensor.
