  1. I use to play a lot more than I do now. Started off doing the Halo thing. Got tired of spawning, turning around, and either getting a shotgun to the face or a headshot from a sniper. Went to COD. Was fun to call an air strike on the re-gen point. Went to GOW2 which I play from time to time still. Mostly in Horde.
  2. I've been guilty of this a couple of times but it seems that it's really getting abused as of late. As per the rules, Gets a little annoying when the "for sale" and "want to buy" from members, get bumped down from all the CL adds. Could the Mods move them out of the classified general area and into the sticky?
  3. Getting it off the windshield once it's out is not too hard. Getting it off the window channel is a PITA and time consuming. You will still need the black goo when going to the newer gasket. As mentioned before, the gasket just wraps around the glass and the goo seals it to the truck.
  4. The trim does impead the flow of water a little. Could be that now the water is flowing over an area where the sealant is poor and the previous trim didn't allow as much water to pass. You difinitely want to find the source of the leak and fix it. You don't want to end up with this.
  5. The trim even when on right doesn't stop water from flowing through it. It's just for looks as it covers the gap between the windshield and the body. The black goo that holds the window in is what stops water from coming in.
  6. You go to the PNP on Sykes Ave right? I've pulled several from there and everyone I had to drain the diff fluid out including the one with the rubber plug. The only one with the plug was this one. Say it is the JY's, then why do they care to put the rubber plug in. Why waste the money on something that they are going to crush if it doesn't sell? Just seem strange but I guess the census is that it's the JY.
  7. :agree: Finally pulled the carpet out of the 86 to swap in a better one from the JY. I have a few new drain holes. I'll be glad when the 88 is back on the road so I can get rid of this one. :shake:
  8. That's interesting. The only one I've seen from a 23 gal tank was the one I pulled from the JY and it was a short arm. Was your long arms at a 90 degree or over 90? What's the height of the 23 gal? Has anyone seen a short arm in anything other than the 23 gal tank?
  9. Have to call you on that one Pat. I had mine done and the nubs did not have to be cut off. The rubber wraps the window just like the rear one does so there is no interference with those little nubs. Far as the OP's question about is it worth the hassles to try to convince the glass people that it can be done. Yes. It's actually easier for them because they don't have to fight those dumb clips to get the trim back on. When I asked my glass guy, I just told him I wanted the newer style rubber and he said no problem. The only thing that bothers me just a little bit is that the top corners don't lay as well due to the differences between the XJ and MJ roof lines.

  11. Ok, here's what I think I know about this so if I'm wrong, please someone else chime in. If you have three straps then it is a 23 gal tank which I believe was only available with the LWB. The MJ's sending unit holder is 180 degrees out from the XJ's and will not work with the stock tanks because of the pan inside of them. Some aftermarket tanks do not have that pan and they will work. The 23 gal tank is obviously longer than the other smaller tanks but I believe it is not as tall. That is why the sender arm is shorter to allow it to make contact with the full stop on the sender. If you put a smaller tank one in it, it will never read full but should read empty correctly. The fuel pumps are the same for MJ's and XJ's and are enterchangeable. So with all that said, you can get a pump from your local autoparts store with no problem. The sending unit holder, minus the pump and sender, is the same for all the tanks on the MJ's. You can get a used one, put a new pump on it, and I believe you can switch the arm on the sender with the arm from your tank( if it is the right one ). I've seen a link describing the process for changing the arms but can find it at the moment. Again, if any of this is out to lunch, someone correct me. Edit: I found where I saw the mention of the sender arms being changed. It was on page 11 of shelbyluvv's Project "Onyx". Maybe he'll chime in as how he did it.
  12. Yep, here's a pic from his build that shows even moving it down, it still hits. Don't think he ever did anything else with it. Seems like you could find one that flips down. Custom van shops that put them in the overhead console may be who you need to get up with.
  13. Always happy to help a member out. They look great.
  14. From what I've seen, your only options are here,a JY, or online used parts dealer. The sender is the hard part to find. What size tank do you have? If it's the 23 gal tank then your search just got a little harder. The sending unit in them are different. The float arm is shorter than the smaller tanks. Looks like this. Kind of hard to tell but the floats distance from the 90 degree bend is only a couple of inches. The others are more like 6 to 8 inches.
  15. This seems possible but, it still had diff fluid in it. I checked the other one I pulled from the same yard and it didn't have one. However, there is a dent in the same spot. I'll have to ask them when I go back there, however I know I've not seen them on other axles. Don't know why they would bother putting a plug in it knowing they were going to crush it soon anyway. Could be possible that it came from another JY however it looked like it was the original axle for that jeep. It was an 87 waggy with factory tow package. Seems like all the waggy's I've seen have had the D44. The Jiffy lube thought could be possible as well. :dunno:
  16. I agree, however I've seen this numerous times and not just the D44 but others as well. :dunno:
  17. Well was pretty slim pickens out at the JY today but a did manage to find one thing that made my day a little better. Was hanging out on the back of an 87 waggy XJ. Was kind of hoping for a LS but a D44 with or without is still all good. Looks to be in good condition. 3.54 gears Open diff Brakes don't look too bad with some newer parts Will sale this on Craigslist as I don't need two of them. Or do I. :D
  18. That was like finding the Holy Grail.
  19. My donor XJ had rats in it so I put a couple of traps to get rid of them. Next day I checked the traps and no rats but, I did catch a bird. If I remember right, it was a robin. They must like Jeeps. Oh, and by the way, rat traps and birds equals a mess. :ack:
  20. Well I thought that there was a thread that had asked about this but I can't find it. What is this in the D44 cover? I'm thinking that instead of pulling the cover, the mechanic punches a hole to drain and then puts the rubber plug in to seal it up. :dunno:
  21. The one in LA has the MJ tailgate vs the one in PA having one made from the XJ hatch. They're different. I've seen I think, two others besides these two and one of them was red as well which they look like they use Flame Red from Jeep.
  22. God speed on your recovery. Glad to see your spirits are up. I'm sure in time you'll be ready to hit the trail again. Just have to get you a handthrottle or longer pedals.
  23. Sounds like a lifter tapping to me. Is it louder from above the engine or below? I've been told that if it's louder from the top, it's a lifter, and if louder from underneath, it's a rod bearing. I'm not saying that is 100% but makes good sense I guess.
  24. Since you have a manual tranny, look to see if the master cylinder is leaking down on the fuse panel.
  25. I'd just want the empty garage and lift.
