Clutch won't completely disengage......
JeepcoMJ replied to Tracker's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I wish I could. They all snapped about 3 threads into the flange - nothing sticking out. when i rebuilt the camaro motor for my truck, i broke off 2 bolts holding the exhaust manifolds on. they were 2 threads in my dad managed to do it. what he did was take and weld a spot in the middle of the bolts then build on it, then slide the nut over it and finish it off...oh, he sprayed the $#!& outta it with wd40 beforehand, then let it soak and moved them with a vice grips. dried them off and welded the nuts on, came right out. granted, we have a pretty decent little welder AND those bolts were bigger. they're hardened too so drilling them out will take as much if not more time as trying to weld them. new yoke sounds like the plan of action... -
well it could be that weather stripping. probably though, there is a pin-hole down on the bottom corner of the windowframe. can you see exactly where the water is leaking out of? or is it behind the interior trim...if so then remove the trim and do your water test again. whatever you do, don't try and pull that weatherstripping out...it's NOT a seal or gasket, it actually just helps make the rear window look better, but most importantly it centers the window. it's shaped so the window fits into it and then you glue the truck frame and set the window back in. if you take it off, you won't get it back on without removing the rear window....again.

weld a nut to the stud...just place the nut over the ends and weld it. don't attempt to do that if you think you can't do it without wrecking anything else. if not drill it. -
forgive me, but what's so good about the amc 20? or is it just that it's rare?

if you're getting 3.5 volts to the injector it isn't the wire from the pcm to the injector...that's a given. at this point if you have A) good spark B) power to the fuel pump C) power to the injectors D) fuel to the injectors and E) it runs when you pour gas in, the simple thing I think is that the injectors would have to be dirty or junk alltogether. i believe you can have them flow tested but am uncertain. there are just 2 injectors correct? I'd just replace them were I you. the only other problem i can think of would be that the computer is not increasing the power to the injectors. technically, it doesn't supply power, it grounds them. oh! that could be it! take a test light (or volt meter) and touch the one end to the ground on an injector wire, and the other end to the power for that injector wire, and see if it closes the circuit *i.e. the light lights up or it shows volts (while the key is in the "on/run" position). if it doesn't do that, then the PCM is not grounding the injector and therefor the injector will not work. but at this point it is either the ground problem or the injector is hella dirty

get rough country...i have a 3" lift from rough country and i'm impressed as hell. throw out those rear packs and find one from a different maker. the rough country front lifts ALWAYS sit level. i've got 2 comanches with them, and we've lifted three xj's with them and they're always good. they perform extremely well.

nah, it's all good seeing as now it's a project...just post the floor repairs and exhaust repairs here and it's all good :D looks like you were a little :rotf: when you wrote this. sounds like fun at least we did that last night for the hegamen's by us...got 3 coyote's by baitin em' with a bloated heffer. works like a charm. they're out right now so we'll see how many more they get.

hey i have a question...i've got one comanche with stock springs that i'd like to lift. i also have a chance at a chrysler 8.25 rear end with 3.73's in it but it's from a cherokee. if i wanted to go SOA could i just put it on or are the perches different? i mean, could it be done easily with minimal fabricating? or is SOA not an easy option? also, what would that entail? if i did it how far would i have to drop my tranny and could i possibly keep my stock driveshafts? i'd like to be at about 5 inches with minimal effort...front end is no problem i know exactly what i'm doing on that.

got the front end mocked up on the MJ...
JeepcoMJ replied to jbhill's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
cool. i think it should just fit right in there. i ordered it. i also found a rhd cherokee in a junkyard but the dash is all cracked up...head on collision...ouch for the driver. it looks like the cluster is there but it's dummy's so i will see if i can put full gauges in that before anything else. would you suggest seeing as i'm staying stock body style that i should get the firewall too? -

it's the same clutch. the ax4 is the same tranny just with 4 speed i'm told. is that correct? -
bench seat question
JeepcoMJ replied to BarracudaBlueXJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
you're welcome. do ya think you're gonna try the power option? if you do, definitely let me know how it turnes out. let me know either way i wanna see! -
damn i was wrong...oops.
-
Wha-oh! Rear axle? Cherokees have the leaf springs over the axle, Comanches have the leaf springs under the axle... lol, i guess he's gonna get some extra lift.... man is freerocknok right...you need axles from a comanche if you're trying to get it working in a timely fashion. it's not exactly like ALL parts on the cherokee/comanche are completely interchangeable.

hey jb i decided to buy the rhd dash and bezel. i'm not tryin to copy you i've wanted rhd forever plus i'm lifting mine :D but i was wondering, when you put your gauges in that dash, did you just cut off the message center? i "got" a title for my truck so i'm good to go on the whole project, teardown is in 3 weeks once i finish the cherokee i got sittin in the shop and get rid of it :D -
yea i might be getting one for like 400 if it is still for sale. it might be over by chicago but i don't care, cent get em in good shape around here. Jeepcomj has to let me know if its still there. and we might figure out how to meet halfway, him towin it and me towin part. Alex haha yea girs i gotta go get off me arse and stop workin so much...maybe have a chance to check the sucker out for ya :D hope its still there don't wanna get u all excited for no reason
-
I've wondered about this as well, cause I'd like to have a seperate rack for my snowboards or to mount lights up front. i have an xj gutter rack for my snowboards...it looks good on the 2 door xj, wierd on the 4 door, and plainly like some hick put it on the mj. trust me i've tried...there's just no way to do it and make it look good.
-
hahaha CW i love how you put that bumper together on your nice kitchen table!
-
alright cool. i'd only be painting the panels...and recovering the headliner with some nice headliner material then some black covers over the seats until i get them recovered or whatnot. i'm probably gonna upgrade to a 98 interior anyways so maybe i won't who knows?
-
and then you sand it i'm guessing? i'm lookin to convert to all 98 interior, doors, fenders, front clip, bumper, and flairs.
-
they're still 19lb/hr injectors, they're just better than the jeep ones so eagle you're stickin with the o2 sensor? aren't those about 100bucks or so? get the o2 sensor. at the same time get a new catalytic converter. you'll spend some bucks but shouldn't have any problems after that. hopefully
-
seriously, how are you gonnna get it to stay together and look nice?
-
yea you could do it with the hitch one. you make the bottom extend the width of the rear bumper then shoot them up at the side and cross back over for the top
-
good point eagle. i gotta get an o2 sensor on my camaro engine now cause i didn't do that :P good thing i only have a few miles on the new cat :D
-
I like that idea...no unnecessary drilling on the truck. except i think he's going for the whole storage space thing...if he made one for the hitch it'd be that much extra metal to store...
