Pete, I need about 4 more stickers, one large outside windshield in red or white or black, and some of the smaller ones like you sent me last time, in any of the same colors. assort them if you will...I'd prefer black for 2 of them and red for one of the smaller ones, but white would suit me just fine. also, I need some comancheclub magnets, probably like 20. there are alot of manches around here that I wanna hit up...I counted 7 almost mint ones in Abell's Corners near Elkhorn in wisconsin. someone has GOT to be restoring them out there, and I wanna know who :D shoot me a pm and i'll shoot ya one back...eta next friday for payment sound good? ship upon recieval of payment... :D

vinyl dye and my new black interior
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had the xj heatertube run under the center console...but that was pointless so I decided to remove that, and block off the opening for it in the xj heaterbox bottom with some plastic material leftover off of the camaro. then I put in the new black center console, and rebuilt/painted my xj mounts (driver's side front bracket had one spot rotted away, so I replaced it), and put it together. when I put xj bucket seats in comanches, I use the rocker action ones and offset the seats 9/16" outward to maintain a neutral position. works out real well. now, I'm going to go paint the B-pillar trim and lower trim pieces, trim up and install the kick panels (xj's don't have the trimmed out spot for the e-brake by your foot), and install them. and A-pillars. the rear trim is already painted and ready to go, and I need to recover the carpeted piece in black to match. then all I will need to do is install the defroster trim, and the tan (painted black) black and install it. -
vinyl dye and my new black interior

got everything else from him today except for the glovebox door and the glovebox under-trim. So I'm installing it all today and will finish painting the tan trim parts that I have black to finish it off. -
it will be up for sale as soon as i get it out of the rear. ;) dibs?

...bellhousings aren't even close between the two. the ax5 can only be used on the 4 cylinder 2.5's, and the 2.8 v6's. they were also used on the 2.1 Renault Turbo Diesel, BUT that version is not interchangeable between the diesel and gas powered ones due to the different input shaft and different bellhousing. the ax15 can be equipped with a 60 degree gm bellhousing (2.5 and 2.8 pattern) out of a dodge dakota, and it's a highly recommended swap. I have had my fill of ax5's, and if you do anything more than road driving, it's very similar to the dana 35...no longer a question of IF it will fail, but WHEN. you can't put the ax5 onto a 4.0 in any situation unless you have an expensive adapter.

Wiring difference between '84 XJ and '88 MJ
JeepcoMJ replied to Chili Palmer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
2.8 sucks. recommended upgrades are an edelbock 4 bbl intake and a holley 390cfm with cams and bore...then you can actually put out some power. http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/man_sbchev.html check that link, it has the intake you need. worth the $$$ if you're bent on putting one in... -

buy them all! I need someone else other than Pete to compete with :D -
buy the longblock...you know parts are easy to get for the HO. only problem will be what system you use to run it, and your injectors and fuel pump.

I will be gone from 7am tomorrow (tuesday the 12th) through noon or so on thursday, so I apologize if I don't get back to y'all right away. idk if i will have access to a computer or anything. I'm doing something I don't want to do and most of us never have to....yet those more daring (stupid in my case) end up doing. haha, this isn't a riddle but i'm sure you're all scratching your heads. y'all have a good couple days and wish me luck please. -Pat (JeepcoMJ....God of all un-holey MJ's)

Rusty's XJ flare experiences?
JeepcoMJ replied to rockhardzj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
and cherokee ones won't mount to the manche's rear. cherokee rear wheel wells are shorter than the manche's -
vinyl dye and my new black interior
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
how is it holding up? I'm fairly sold on the product but think that I would eventually like to get all the right parts in black...then build this "painted" interior into the spare parts interior or put it in the 89 -
congrats! haha, whatcha gonna do with that trac-loc? :brows:

vinyl dye and my new black interior
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yep, it's spray-on. I've done both door panels now, and did a set of grey hockey-stick armrests (sorry mfpdm...not using the ones you sent me anymore :P), and the rear trim piece for under the window so far. next are the B-pillars and lower trim. he has sent me the kick panels so I don't need to paint them. I installed the kneeboard and it looks great! noticed ya kept them tweeters ;) anywho, I'll be gone a couple days here so hopefully when I get back I'll put up more pics and give ya info on the dye. btw, i tried scratching it off and short of gouging the vinyl it won't come off. also smells like fresh *ahhhhh* paint :D that will wear off and then it'll be back to the smell of mouse (damn heaterbox...this is my chance to swap in the a/c now too as I need to remove the dash to paint it or install a black one) -
yep, got some of the parts from mfpdm today, so I'm starting the swap. bought some spray-on vinyl dye from napa to spray all the parts I didn't have in black. i'll post the name of it when I remember. here's the progress so far, and it's great! so for anyone interested into swapping to a black interior...you really only need the seats (if that, this stuff will paint anything as it's a dye) and about $50 in this paint to swap the whole interior to black. oh, and the black seat belts of course.

hehe, wow. yeah...ya might wanna get a parts xj about now. matter of fact, it's usually easier to start with that :P
-
looks good but I am fairly certain that the AAL's are supposed to go on the next spot down...they're not supposed to be shorter than the leaf below them for wear purposes.
-
ummm...charles, did you even look at the layout from when it was in the other truck? no offence whatsoever, but the problems you are experiencing are easy to solve if you actually look before you leap so to speak. the one for the p/s pump doesn't need to be hooked up. as a matter of fact, you shouldn't be using the old 4 cylinder p/s lines with the new 4.0 pump, you should have the 4.0 p/s lines. they're both high pressure but the 4.0 won't have the connector. also, yours appears to be leaking already

89 to 91 wiring difference???
JeepcoMJ replied to CEThomas's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yep, gotta swap the harness. one's a high output and the other isn't. only way around it is to splice the pin connector on the engine side into the older connector...and that's probably gonna be too big of a deal -
ya, but then ya'd have to go through all the effort of putting the clutch system in the xj and bleeding it etc...really more hassle than it's worth IMHO. I'd part the xj personally, OR for good measure, throw the jy aw4 you have in the xj and sell it as needing some tlc. you really just need the tranny and connectors and t-case right? as for brake pedal...I'd just remove the clutch pedal and use the manual style brake pedal. more room for the left foot...
