Driveshaft lenghts - 2wd and 4wd SWB MJ
JeepcoMJ replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
he already has the same one, he needs to know the length of the cut or what would work as a substitute -
haha, didnt say how well they'd hold up, but I have access to all of the machining tools I would need and high-grade aluminum for the project. they're make-able, as it's only the 3 main pieces...central column, upper mount, and lower adjustable mount, with the bolts going through it which clamp it down. then it's rubber bushings top and bottom and the bumpstop added to it. I'll make a cheap one out of threaded plumbing pipe and then maybe even consider buying some acos. you guys think that there would be a market for some cheaper acos called like Pacos or something? :brows: j/k. i know, i can't produce something identical :( but i can make my own!
-
I think I could make my own very easily.

the one for the overhead console. I have NO clue...

rear of the block on one of the corners

I use ground effects to mean body kit, not neon lights. sorry to confuse... and by body kit I mean the early 90's lower trim....
-
how much do those lines cost? the YJ ones AND the dakota one?
-
man, i LOVED that car and am looking into getting another one...they're wicked fast and pretty pimp with ground effects. still a lil feminine but hey, it's a convertible.

august 11th all day wheeling, meet up on the 10th at night and camp, and camp again on the night of the 11th, then headed home the 12th. that's a friday, a saturday, and a sunday. -
every good deal involves a case of beer

:P what do you think i did with the vw cabriolet I had? drove it for the mileage???? haha, yeah right!
-
weeeellll i'm already taking out a $3000 loan to pay for all this...it's a great way to build credit and not be tempted to buy more that I don't have. take $1150 from that and that's what I have left to use on the truck really.. but there are other things that I wish to buy. all jeep-related.
-
yeah, keep shortys...I'm not ready to mess with longarms yet. piecing together is actually more money unless it's used parts...and when buying used parts from someone I don't know, i'm leary because it doesnt' come with a warranty. another thing I don't want in this kit is any sort of coil spacers...6.5" springs are what I'm looking at. lookin like 89eliminator's Rusty's system is pretty good right now...
-
hmm...I've been wanting RE but they don't seem to have anything but the 5.5" kit for the MJ on that site, and it's a drop-bracket kit which sucks. I'm looking at a lift that's under $1200, especially since I'm NOT using any of the rear suspension components...I have chryco perches for the 44 already I payed $250 for the tires i'm going to be using (not ideal tires, but practically new), rims were free from another MJ i had back in the day, and I'm looking at a Rough Country lift kit right now because they actually come with what i'm looking for for $1050. i know i know, RC "sucks" but i've had nothing but luck with them... thanks for ideas, keep 'em coming!

this is the 89 we're talking about. it IS gonna be wheeled hard. the 3800 will be staying almost exactly as it is for the rest of it's life...maybe a brushguard and another couple inches of lift and an 8.8 rear end and such, but it's never gonna be wheeled. plus that kit doesn't meet the specs. of fully adjustable...
-
It's nice to not worry about your floors rusting by not having a carpet, but I'd never drive something that was gonna bake my feet....get some protective heat foil or something along those lines, and lay it in then either throw your carpet back in with none of the factory insulation. I don't like to hear loud noises the truck makes on-road, so having a headliner and carpet is a must for me.

You might remember my request for good ideas on a 6.5" lift kit before and that I didn't want to go SOA because of my insurance not being willing to insure the vehicle. well..they'll insure it now. So I'd like to know where I can get a GOOD front lift of 6.5" with fully adjustable UCA's, LCA's, and track bar that comes with new shocks and new front brake lines. the rear I'll take care of...so if I have to buy an AAL equipped lift, I can toss all the rear components. my biggest thing is that it's all adjustable and comes with shocks...I can mess with brake lines if need be. ideas?

saw this somewhere, and it's 100% true. also true of drifting hondas Having a 12-second Honda is like coming out of the closet. You're going to surprise a lot of people, but in the end you're still ghey.

I shoot just fine, but I'm a bow person myself. even can use a sling very accurately. Pistols are cool and I'm a pistol person when it comes to paintballing (people don't get why I ONLY shoot them in the groin...yay limited ammo). my full auto paintball gun is mactually my "secondary" weapon of choice in paintball wars. my other passion is sniping...whether paintball or my dad's deer rifle. honestly, i'm no expert at what guns are what, but I can shoot and I can tune a site so i'm good.

lol, perfect. I will ship it on thursday of next week and figure out shipping in the morning.

this is certainly the piece. sorry, i didn't snap a side-view. no clue what the black connector does. why didn't yours have this? it should be in the xj you are using. or in the pile of parts you have removed from it...
