  1. My brother steve is coming with his MJ and beaterjeep is riding with me as his 86 won't be ready to wheel. we're fixing his 88's front end before we come down though...
  2. what color are the 4 door seats and which blue did you have (Light or dark) I've got light blue interiors in 2 trucks and spare parts are always good...
  3. I agree eagle. the only thing I use my 22 for is shooting birds. a 22 slug isn't enough to do much in the short term...and in a gunfight you're concerned about short term. you want to stop the guy NOW not hurt him so he drops later
  4. i was talking about them not being the same....i've found that i can't put a 258 crank, or pistons into a 4.0 because of different length and stroke... and if some years were narrower, then they're not really the same are they?
  5. the a/c is compatible if your truck is a 4.0 of the same vintage...but if you don't have a/c right now you will need to pull the dash out of both trucks and swap the entire heater box/a/c box assembly, all the a/c hoses and condensor etc., and the a/c control not a project for the faint of heart...and while you have it out you may as well replace the evaperator or whatever the thing in the a/c box is, and upgrade all fittings to do r134 as r12 is no longer available new.
  6. dumbass
  7. nice. you can probably shorten a header panel to accomodate just a grille off a manche, and then just mount up some fog lights as your headlights. I know I appreciate the light and you don't seem to have any... i like it though
  8. WHOA barking up the wrong tree there... a 258 should bolt in, but the electronics would become a problem as one is FI and one is carb. plus the 258 is a bit longer so maybe the motor mounts wouldn't line up? the question you should be asking is "do any of you out there have a spare 4.0 that would fit a YJ? a friend of mine isn't having luck and could use a hand..." :P no offence but the 258 isn't the best option for the swap considering how many 4ohs are out there, unless he really really wanted to run propane. i know you prolly want that outta your shop badly and if you do, you should post it up on naxja.org or the classifieds here...someone will likely want it for a CJ, but it's not for a YJ and i wouldn't put one in a 4.0 ran jeep.
  9. I have to scan some pictures in...but my dad has owned almost every grille type in there...just not the final or the boobie grille-d years, but he's had every other year. he sold his last j10 in favour of the 86 diesel mj. big mistake...we had a plow for the j10. the one I have for the MJ's is too heavy for stock springs, and while the 2.1 had enough power, it doesn't with the blown head. my brother had the plow on his 4oh MJ and it was great but he's a dumbass and slams from forward to reverse and back...and crams through t-case selections...when plowing. hence it being down for 7 months with a busted front right and left Ujoint and axleshafts/outerstubs. anywho, back to the j10s. they're powerful and all muscle in looks and performance. the razor grille would look good on an MJ, and the waggy front end looks similar to the booby grille, but I don't think i'd want to either see any other ones on a manche, and i KNOW i want to kill the guy who built that grey MJ with the razor. it looks like a ranger but gayer...sorry to you ranger guys, and sorry to insult the guys innovation but that's not my cup o' tea colton, try it and see what happens
  10. true enough. I say measure length of it. the carriers should all be the same... just please don't but a turdy-5 in it
  11. don't swap to the original rear end, just get a normal carrier for the 9 inch. it's easier first of all to do, and it's gonna be more reliable than the dana 35 the ONLY stock jeep axle that i would swap back to would be the chrysler 8.25 or a stock dan 44.
  12. naxja.org but watch what you say, if you ask a dumb question they're dicks and flame the crap out of you. if you just say you flat out don't know what the deal is and ask for someone's opinion, you may get better results. typically, tech for cherokees can be pretty well covered on this site as well. p.s. i'm thinking you need to go cheromanche w/ the cherokee...hummer style with the back half of a comanche cab right behind the rear seats. p.p.s. i have the back half of a comanche cab soon coming off tatersalad (a project of mine)
  13. I've got the trailer and truck for sure, so my bro is coming if his porsche is sold by then (sell porsche = bigger lift + tires). now i won't waste my gas or put miles on my truck :D
  14. aaaaand new rebuilt/new syncro ax5 tranny going in next week. 2nd and 3rd gear died at 370,000 on the tranny, and the t-case chain snapped. time for an np231! after that, the 3800 will be on the backburner while I build up the 89. I'll be installing black interior in the 3800 complements of mpfdm (Paul, thanks much!) in the 3800 though! finally, all black and white with no funny colors (byebye blue). I have 3 more projects to post up now; Gordy (my brother's 88 ) Turbo (the 2.1 Renault TD...my dad's geting a dodge cummins so the diesel will be mine now for the sum of free) 89 Pioneer (my 89 pioneer :P Designated wheeler/winter rig)
  15. yep, 2nd gear went....and took 3rd with it. i can still shove it into 3rd and sorta into second...and i don't have time to fix it til next week so i'm driving it as it is. I ordered a syncro kit for the ax5 that's coming out of project tatersalad, so those will be new. while i have it apart I will also be checking out bearings and such, but they should all be good. already got the front and rear seals and I have the np231 apart on the bench right now...screw the 207 they suck. I'm not sure who did this on here, but part of this project is going to be welding up a bracket that bolts to the tranny and holds the 4wd shifter linkage pivot to the tranny...so that i don't have to angle it in or out during a crossmember drop or re-install. that's something i'm gonna do on all the MJ's from now on...it's more convenient if ya gotta drop it on the trail from t-case failure or something. oh, it runs now too. the female connector pins were ovaled out a bit...so i squared them back off and it works. yay
  16. i use GOO-GONE after i use the heat gun. I'll be removing the pioneer stripes from my 89 on friday with the same method...but no razor. I build old Yamaha snowmobiles (Exciter, GPX, SRX, and even an SSR plus some newer ones) and from using it on fiberglass and aluminum i've basically got it down...it DEFINITELY involves getting hot thumbs, but it's worth it in the end :D
  17. yes, correct the yoke angle by angling it upwards while you SOA the axle. at most you MAY need to space your tranny down an inch, but that's highly unlikely with the wheel base of even a shortbed comanche.
  18. yep. both of your trucks are in nice shape btw
  19. yeah, beers for everyone on the club
  20. torch the torque bolts a bit, then use a vice grips to loosen them if you don't have a torque. i can get the doors off without messing with grinding or torching with a good torque set.
  21. I TOLD y'all that a heat gun is the way to do it. didn't even leave much residue now did it?
  22. so far I'm driving down there...I have a spare complete carrier for my dana 44, spare axleshafts for it (the right ones), a spare carrier for the 30, spare engine parts and tranny parts, and hopefully a spare np231 on the way. basically since i'm driving down and it's my ride back, I want it to be good to run. I MAY get to use my grandpa's duramax and 40 foot flatbed...which means my bro is coming with and we'll be trailering 2 mj's I'd rather tow it down since a 5 hour strand or limp home isn't gonna be fun. do they have good spots to leave trailer rigs? I hope to heck they do...don't wanna have anything get stolen or crapped up.
  23. no url just IMG Image Not Found and wrong code. you need to do the right click method and select properties then copy the address that's there. that's the DIRECT LINK to the image. the link you have is the PAGE LINK that it's on, they are NOT the same.

put a return space between each one and set it up like these ones above. just copy and paste 1 link, then tripple click the link and click Img above. then click the end of the link and return twice and do the next one. it'll turn out like this below Image Not Found Image Not Found also, to get the correct link you need to right click the FULLSIZE image and then click properties and double click the address part then copy that. not the page address.
