hahahaha, so the ex HATED it. you know bo from dukes of hazzard? yeah, it's like that. she wouldn't even go wheeling with me, and hated riding in it (it's ok she's got a jetta that we rode in...back seat ;) ) my mom thinks it's nice...but doesn't want to hear anything about it. I guess that after seeing me scrap out 4 or 5 of them, restore mine, put the camaro engine in it, not to mention the zj I had that i traded for the parts xj, and the fact that I own no less than 3 comanches personally at a time doesn't appease to her. add to that my father's DD is an 86 MJ factory TD and my bro drives an 88 pioneer 4.0 MJ...well, she hates it. but she tolerates it as long as we don't talk about it with her. the new girl i'm into loves it and asked me to help her find one cause she hates driving her malibu in the snow, and loves wheeling :D

to me, that /\ / \ l l l l means remove rear brake prop valve and replace with xj valve. that's just too much crap to bleed.

:agree: i forgot to ask if it is an auto...if it is, then that is likely the culprit...do your backup lights work? put the key in the on position and then shift it into reverse, and get out and look see if they come on...if not, it's a neutral safety switch. mind you, do that test on flat ground...

lol, yeah it's my bro's...first one we built and i know plywood isn't the way. it's too thick as well...we're cutting it down by 3" in thickness. the subs ARE partitioned in there, and everything is calked from the inside. there aren't any other speakers on the box...he cut those out and i said that's a bad idea, so we put new wood behind there and put the cut outs back in, sealed them up. they actually kick perty damn loud...1200 watt sony xplod amp and 1100 watt alpine subs (i think they're alpines...i forgot). great back massage but leg room is a problem. having a headliner will help sound too.

we're game for the 11th, Joe I may try to set up another one a couple weeks later/earlier than that as well, you're invited of course :D

check wire connections, clean them at the battery, the ground, AND the starter. then try. if that doesn't work, check and clean the wires to the starter relay, don't mix them up. if it doesn't click then, then you have a bad relay. if you replace that and it clicks but doesn't start, then you have a bad battery wire to the starter. if no dice there, it's the starter gone bad.

that's an interior trim light...goes on the b pillars right above the upper seatbelt mounts. still hard to find in good shape

bedsides you can't buy anymore. you can get rusty's fiberglass baja flare fenders for front and rear, or use the upper portion of a 2 door cherokee (basically only the upper wheel well lip)

I passed it up...i'm fixing it for her instead, for $500. that's just replacement body work...she's paying for the paint and body smoothing. i am friends with the vw guy in town, so i already got the parts for it for $50 on my lunch break today.

i am with buckets and the sub directly behind the center console. sounds good...10" sony Xplod. it's cracked cause someone tried to steal it and dropped it when it was in the v dub. here's my bro's. i'll let the pictures do the talking. sounds great, but expensive and time consuming, and it definitely told us what was rattling/vibrating on the body...

haha, the sweeter ride has more pull methinks...that car was only something i drove for 9 months before i sold it, and the roof leaks at the front seal...AND the wiring behind the dash isn't all that great, someone jacked the stereo and caused $1400 in damage by wrecking the dash and all the wiring behind it...i spliced it all back together but... I think i may buy it and strip it down, then find a corrado vr6 motor or a g6 and put that in. how's a 130 mpg convertible sound? or i could offer to fix it for her and make a couple bucks...

I'm thinking i might...it needs the 4 headlight grille, and the newer valances and skirts all the way around IMO, the seats are torn too... idk if i want a project, there's another one with a 5 speed and 5 lug suspension that i could get for 2 grand that's exactly what i want...

so for 700 dollars the girl who bought my 1985 vw cabriolet (convertible rabbit) wants to sell it to me. it needs a new grille and front left fender (hit a parking lot pole thing), and perhaps a new top ($250), a new right door or the rust hole repaired on that door, and about a 4"x4" sheet of metal replaced in front of both rear wheel wells. other than that it's all there, it's a 5 speed, 4 cylinder and runs and drives, it's prewired for a sub (didn't take that out 3 years ago...), and gets 30+ per gallon (usually 37 or so IIRC). it has 170,000 on the car but only 110k on the motor (compliments of me). should I buy it back? looks like that except dark blue and has some real nice alloys on it instead of the crap rims. I still have my snow tires on spare rims as well for it...
