nice fsj! it didn't pass emissions because it has a HO motor in it. no egr valve and running with renix stuff it's gonna have higher co2 than the truck's year was permitted to have. easy fix is to replace the catalytic converter with one that controls co2.

MJ's will hold/gain value if they're in nice shape, there aren't many out there and as more and more die and are scrapped, demand will increase. i'll have my truck for another 35 years hopefully...the 3800 i mean. but I want my kids to be able to drive it to school every now and again, and it's something i value highly...I'd like to leave it to one of them (when I have kids)

JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
thanks, i'll do it right the first time rather than half lift now and too big of tires...I want stock bodylines/mostly stock and big lift + tires -
i didn't do that, idk who did. hotlink it for me please

I HAVE one that will eventually go on one of my trucks...probably on the 89 with the chrome bumper.

good 6.5" lift...ideas for a bolton kit?

:P i'm a clean bodyline person...i DON'T cut out fenders unless it's a complete junker. the only other way i'll do it is if i get 2 more tj rear flares so i can reflare it all around. -
the power steering pump mounts to the left of the a/c unit. keep the a/c, add the power steering. bolt on the box and lines and power steering pump. you may need to swap out some brackets to a p.s. equipped one... post up some pics of your engine (view from driver's side front corner and straight-on view) or send me some and I can tell you what's what.

yes, to pull the gasket start in one of the corners and peal up the outer layer (the part that you see...its 1 piece but this part is like a flange)...it will probably be stuck to the paint. then you can actually pull it all the way out slowly by starting at a corner. the gasket centers the window, it's glued in with the same stuff as the front. hehe, i almost said remove the rear interior panels and headliner...then i remembered how far down you got that thing. why are you removing the rear window?
-
hehe, yep, and that was as good a time as any...
-
get some small cable for the rear, or a hot knife...you can use the cable like a saw (vice grips as handles) or a hot knife slices through it like butta. there are also extended box cutters etc.

they still flame on FJOA, but just when some douche ditches his ride and leaves them to clean it up

which thread do you mean? the thread I hotlinked on here was regarding a mod (ghost) removing someone's thread because the "bashing was out of hand". the guy who had the thread innocently brought it up and asked who and why...and ghost got right on their and bashed with "because I can" and "you're just a freeloader who doesn't pay into the site..see, you're blue and i'm red so I have rights and you don't" basically. So I called him out on it and said it's all BS and taht we're supportive over here and constructively critisize...then someone brought up the 12" lift pics and said we're all pansys basically and that that's the reason that some idiots make such unsafe homebrew lift kits and it's ridiculous that the people who say "great looking rig" about it outnumber the sensible ones who say "redo it cause it's unsafe". I then hotlinked them that thread and said to ACTUALLY read it and see who said what before they talk...yadayadayada they got mad, and ghots, like a f*ing kitty, decides it's out of hand (and making him look bad) and removes it. that's it in a nutshell

i'm not reporting it if i get in an accident, i'm worried about what the OTHER person would do. should someone else report it, i'd be screwed. and yes, if there were any potential reason that my rig had suspension failure...they'd look. I'll see what I can do SUA, i can always adapt it later. -

JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm making my own shock mounts and using u-bolts and a flat plate of 1/4" steel to bolt the axle down, that will allow for a couple inches more of clearance. *shrug* if i don't like it, i'll just SOA it later, it's not like i don't have a bunch of good stock springs to use. -
wade, you have to fiberglass it or resin it first or it will pull down the layers no matter how much glue you put on it. basically the backing is layered and the layers like to peal...hence headliners sagging.
-
check your AIR FILTER first. then pressure wash the engine bay (careful on sensors) and look it over
-
yep, they can't take it when people bash them, yet they dish it out ALL the time.
-
the @$$hat shut down the thread
-
haha, not the ones who are posting :P i think all the other ones are scared they'll get kicked off if they agree   read it now, now they're cutting on the 12" lift project as well...which i can't say i blame them on that one...but it's the guys project and he CAN do as he wants

JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
the first one is an AAL kit, and the point is to stay away from those...they suck. shoulda specified that earlier. second one is one SHODDY example of a lift system. the only good thing about it is the OME coils springs. it doesn't even come with control arms, while it does come with a mj prop. valve extension  RE lift is the way i'll go, springs, adjustible CA's, trackbar, i'll make my own swaybar discos, brake lines, and i'll do my own e-brake line extensions. prolly drop the t-case 1" just cause i can, and i'll reinforce the crossmember then too. the rear will be rusty's 4.5". 89eliminator has a 6.5" front and 4.5" rear and the truck sits level...so i'll do that and if it's low, make some shackles -

lmao, nope. take the 3 bolts and connectors holding it on off of it...it's easy enough to be worth the extra effort. at least in the intake though it will burn out on the first couple strokes...but it's probably not good on rings or your cylinder walls -
a parts store or hardware store. they are sure to carry that size bolt, it just won't say "t-case bolt" so you will have to do some looking. if there aren't any around you, you're SOL
